Today was chilly and windy, in other words a perfect excuse for not accomplishing any of the projects I need to do outside, you know that broke my heart.
I went running around town today trying to find a few oddball parts I need for the Arctic Fox like a new bubble level with a memory slider, and a landing gear pull pin to replace the one I managed to bend. And oddly enough with all of this RV stuff in Quartzsite I was unable to find either one. I haven't given up yet there's still plenty of other places to look in town.
I also filled up the truck with diesel for under three dollars a gallon which I was very happy to see. And got rid of two Walmart bags of trash at the gas station where I filled up.
In the past I always bought my propane at Herbs Hardware store because they were usually the cheapest people in town, and I was often at the store getting something else anyway. But when I pulled into their parking lot the big refill propane tank was gone from its usual spot, and looking around I didn't see it anywhere else. I'm assuming they no longer sell propane so I reckon I'll have to find another place. I know other places do refills, like the Pit Stop for instance but I always thought they were kind of expensive.
While sitting at the red light at the corner of Main Street and Central Boulevard, which is also Highway 95. I got to thinking about what an exciting intersection this used to be back in the day when it was a four-way stop instead of a stoplight.
For those unfamiliar with Quartzsite this intersection could be considered the epicenter of Quartzsite. Everyone coming or going in Quartzsite will sooner or later go through this intersection and when you consider how bad the traffic is around here in January, and then when you consider that at least half the traffic is old geezers in giant RVs you can imagine the chaos that would incur at a four-way stop.
I think you could've made good money renting out lawn chairs on all the corners of those two roads just to watch four 80-year-old guys try to figure out who's supposed to go next with the added stress of 15 RVs backed up behind everyone of them. It was the best entertainment in Quartzsite. Oh well times change, stop signs get replaced by stoplights, that's progress but I wish they'd considered the entertainment value before they made the switch.
