An inexpensive hobby

People's hobbies are often directly related to their income. In other words, to get a rough idea about how much money someone makes, look at their hobbies.

 That's not insight; that's just common knowledge. But nobody cares if you've spent thousands of dollars on your hobby, or hundreds of dollars on it, if you're serious about the hobby, your accepted by everyone no matter how much you've spent on whatever gear it takes to enjoy your hobby.

 And speaking about the gun hobby, there's a big difference between the cost of having a handgun hobby, a rifle hobby, and a shotgun hobby. I know everyone considers those as just "gun hobbies." But there's a difference in their cost, especially if you want to compete in various contests with one of the previously mentioned firearms .

 The contest going on right now at Ben Avery requires expertise in handgun and rifle shooting. However, almost anyone of average income can afford a handgun and a rifle of high enough quality to compete in these matches without spending more than a couple of thousand dollars on all the equipment it takes to compete and possibly win.

 And since it's a rifle and handgun match, its held at the main shooting range where everyone competing is camped, you can tell a lot about what it costs to compete in this match by the type of camping equipment that the competitors been living in for the last nine days.

 This is getting a little long, and I've got other things to do, so I will continue tomorrow explaining a little bit about the competition that's going on that ends this afternoon, and how this match is really a big deal,  the beginnings of which can be traced back to the presidency of Teddy Roosevelt.

Most of The folks that compete in this current competition do so with very few means.

Not all of the competitor sleep in a tent but there's very few of them in giant, expensive, motorhomes.

I'm not a big fan of anything that you have to put together to camp... Maybe I'm just lazy, or maybe I've tried to put together campers in the rain and found it less than appealing.

I'm not sure, especially at my age, if I could sleep in a tent for nine days, and still shoot competitively.

Some folks are camped more comfortably than others.
