Another long-winded response to a brief comment

I was rudely awakened this morning by the unmistakable sounds of big horsepower outboard motors. Unbeknownst to me there was a Bass fishing contest this morning, and a dozen or more boats were leaving the Marina as I was crawling out of bed.

Reading your comment about why you follow certain blogs made me think about why I follow certain blogs, and it's pretty much the same reasons that you have.

But a lot of the time, I'm not sure why I read a blog for a couple of days and then quit or why I don't read more blogs than I do; after all, there are more RV blogs out there than there are people to read them, so it's not like I don't have a lot of choices.

Sometimes leaving someone's blog is a no-brainer for me; they've changed their life to a point I can no longer relate to it, and what their writing about has no interest to me anymore.

Early on in my full-timing life, when I decided to boondock instead of mostly staying at campgrounds, I would imagine a lot of folks weren't interested in boondocking and moved on to another blog more in line with their interests. Or kind of like me changing from the Arctic Fox fifth wheel to a slide-in truck camper, I think a lot of trailer folks would have lost interest in my blog at that point.

I do appreciate all your compliments on my blog. I don't get many comments, so I'm grateful and appreciative for the ones I get. Writing a blog is weird; it's like writing letters that you never mail, so you never get a response and have no idea how people feel about what you're writing. So I keep writing my blog every day, not knowing if people love it or hate it.

But that's okay. I always try to keep in mind that I write it because I enjoy it. And I try to keep enjoying it by doing it in the simplest, easiest way possible so that it doesn't put any deadlines, stress, or pressure on me. I don't make any money from my blog, nor do I wish to do so. I started it to keep my family informed of where I am and what I'm doing, which is still my goal today.

I read some of the articles in the link you gave me, and it appears things are going the way it was expected. Eventually, the manufacturers would catch up with demand. Not all of those folks who ran out and bought an RV would enjoy the lifestyle. And when all that comes together, RV prices will take a tumble.

 But even with all that going on, we're still going to end up with a lot more people RVing than before, which will mean more crowds and higher costs at campgrounds as the big guys buy out the mom-and-pop places, raise the prices to pay their new mortgage, and pack in more people to make more money during the busy times.

They don't let all the boats leave at once, that could create a dangerous situation, they have some kind of a system that has them leaving one at a time.

And as the case with most marinas, there's a "no wake" speed limit until they've left the breakwater

I don't think these guys were the real pros, their boats and motors didn't look as cool and as powerful as the guys that make bunches of money doing this.

That doesn't mean they can't go pretty fast. These guys just don't have enough motors on the transom to sink the boat like the big guys do.

Sometimes all it takes is a few hours of fishing on golden waters to relax a guy enough that he's able to drag himself back to work Monday morning.
