I went running around today taking pictures of desert wildflowers, and it looks like yellow flowers dominate the landscape. I was hoping there would be the purple and orange kind that spread along the ground and cover large areas of the desert but there was very very few of those as yellow is the predominant color.

I have to leave here tomorrow morning. I don't like staying someplace for two days if I can help it, it's too long to stay packed up, and its too short to completely unpack. I'm just sort of in limbo somewhere between belonging, and just passing through.

I haven't figured out where I'm going to go tomorrow morning, but I'm sure I will and I'm just as sure I'll be happy when I get there.

Well so far I'm fairly disappointed in the flower situation and the lack thereof at Picacho Peak State Park. I haven't done any running around yet but from what I've seen just coming into the Park there was a lot more wild flowers in Ajo than there are here, and the article I read on the Internet said that this place is full of wild flowers, but so far their wrong.

There are small bunches of yellow flowers here and there even in the campground, but I thought there were supposed to be fields of flowers growing everywhere at this Park. I did pass several fields of flowers on the way here some of which were just outside of Ajo but most places it was difficult or dangerous to pull over and stop so I had to drive on by some of the prettiest places, that's one of the problems of pulling a trailer.

In order to give my wild flower search the best chance at success I unhitched the Arctic Fox and tomorrow I will go driving around some and see what I can find. I hadn't planned on unhitching for such a short stay but it looks like if there's some wild flowers here I may have to go looking for them.

Well even if I don't find a wild flower or two at least I got to dump my tanks, and since it's in the mid-80s I had the opportunity to turn on my air conditioner and give it a little exercise.

I went to the grocery store this morning and bought a few things. Since I'm only going to be at Picacho Peak State Park for two nights I probably won't even unhitch the trailer so I won't be able to go to a grocery store while I'm there. And yes the Arctic Fox is perfectly comfortable while it's hitched up. I set it up so that while it's hitched the front of the Arctic Fox is slightly higher than the rear so when I sleep my head is slightly elevated which is comfortable for me.

I also don't need to put down the jacks in the front or the rear to stabilize it because it doesn't seem to wallow around when I'm living in it. This may be because being the only one in it I don't notice the movement, I don't know for sure. But I do know that I only have to put down the rear jacks when the wind is blowing really hard from the side, and if I remember correctly that's only happened twice this winter.

It's only a 120 mile drive to the Picacho Peak State Park from Ajo but I topped up the truck's fuel tank at $3.09 a gallon anyway.

I'm pretty sure that Spring is finally here because the entire 10 day forecast is calling for highs in the mid to low 80s, and my batteries are getting charged up by about 10:30 AM, which tells me the sun is much higher in the sky now days.

I'm going to miss Ajo but I don't know why.

I can't think of anything in particular about Ajo that makes me want to return, its just a general overall comfortable feeling. The people I've met have been really nice, the rodeo arena is a pretty good place to boondock, but mostly I think it's peaceful and relaxing. There's nothing hectic about Ajo, there's no hurrying going on anywhere. The traffic is always light, stores are never packed with people, and I've never had to wait to get fuel. Overall it seems to be a laid-back easy-going place which suits my lifestyle perfectly.
