Chatfield state Park

The old boondork parked next to the swimming beach at Chatfield state Park. I wanted to visit the park on a weekday because on a weekend there wouldn't be any places for me to park, especially this close to the swimming beach.

I thumbed my nose at the Summer doldrums today and drove over to Chatfield state Park, which is about a 10 minute trip,  walked around looking at things and taking a few snapshots.

I haven't been to the park since they finished tens of millions of dollars worth of remodeling work, some of it to the Park, but most of it to enlarging the reservoir, which changed the look of almost everything in the park.

I enjoyed being there, especially with the parks new look, but by 10 o'clock it was getting too hot to be enjoyable so I hot footed it back home.

This is the way I prefer seeing a swimming beach.... empty. But this is only possible at this State Park on a weekday. there are so many people living in this general area that even if only a few of them decide to visit on a weekend the place will be packed.

I'm glad to see they put the shark nets back up to guard the swimmers.

 these folks certainly look happy, and since they're the only ones on the beach I'm happy to.

you wouldn't believe what this place looks like on a weekend, long lines at the gate, a beach full of people, and so many boats on the water you can't believe they don't run into each other.

One of the very few boats on the lake today. Usually there's a bunch of go-fast boats, ski boats, about a million Jet Skis and right in the middle of that melee will be the fishermen in the center of the lake trying not to get run over.
