flu season?

Not everybody in Quartzsite likes to spread out like I do, most folks prefer to be kinda near to one another, which is great, because that leaves more spread out room for me.

 It was a very cloudy day today, with no rain but plenty of clouds, which somewhat limited my solar charging, and it looks like I've got one more day of this. But it doesn't require a drastic change in my life; I can still stay comfortable as long as I limit my time on my large laptop.

So far this winter, I haven't heard any news about the flu season. By this time, there are usually scary news articles and drastic predictions about the horrors of flu season, but nothing I've seen in the local or national news makes the flu sound like a big deal.

 I always get a flu shot before I leave for my winter travels, mostly because it doesn't seem to hurt anything; it makes me feel like I'm doing something good, and it's free. But my boondocking lifestyle is such that I'm around very few people, mostly when shopping in a Walmart. but since I don't hang around in a store talking to everyone who walks by, my exposure to people is limited. Limiting my exposure to people is one of the reasons I seldom get sick or even feel out of sorts when traveling in the winter. Of course, most folks couldn't or wouldn't want to live like that, but I'm a loner, so to me, it's perfectly normal.

I went to Walmart this morning, picked up a few groceries, and then surprised myself by driving a mile down the highway and pulling into the Bluewater Casino to spend a night or two boondocking in there parking lot....kind of a mini-vacation.

The Bluewater casino is built right on the Colorado River, making it a scenic place, especially at night when the hotel is lit up. So, I'm glad I surprised myself with this unplanned visit to a scenic casino.

But after coming here for years, imagine my surprise when I whipped out my player's card in the gift shop and asked for a couple of nights of parking lot camping and was informed by the young lady that boondocking at Bluewater casino is no longer free, and the very same area where I've boondocked for years is now $27 a night...no better location, no hookups, no nothing... $27 a night! What does that remind me of? Oh yeah!  Pima County fairgrounds boondocking in a parking lot for $30 a night. I'm starting to see a pattern here.

II walked out of there and drove back to Quartzsite, a bit disappointed, but that's the way things go with boondocking; you can always count on good things not lasting very long.

But one good thing did come out of my trip to Parker: I noticed an Arizona DMV as I was driving by, so I went inside, gave them my paperwork on the Arctic Fox, and the required four dollars so they will now send me a title for the Arctic Fox in a week or so which removes the last hurdle for me being able to sell the Arctic Fox.

A lot of the flea market sellers like to rent enough space so they can have their RV parked next to them. That makes it very convenient to live right next to your store.

There's been more cloudy weather in Quartzsite than I'm used to seeing. if I had to describe the weather in Quartzsite in general in the winter, I would say warm and sunny, almost every day, after all it is a desert. But the El Niño has changed a lot of that. But remember some of these Saguaros are hundreds and hundreds of years old and the Saguaros can't survive freezing weather, so it can't get too bad.
