Oh I would love to be that close to those Clydesdales in person...Once had the privilege of baby-sitting a couple of ....oh, not Percherons, but something else, can't remember, long ago...for a few days. Just glorious critters. Thanks for the bird information. I was wondering why I hadh't seen any house finches lately.

It was interesting being that close to those huge critters. The folks that travel with the Clydesdales seem like really nice folks, and they understand everybody's interest in those animals and their lifestyle which, to the folks that work with them, is something they deal with every day.

One of the big problems about getting old is having the ability to compare prices of things today with things from 50 years ago. So the first thing I thought of when you mentioned a van costing $126,000 was compared it to the first house I ever bought, which was 1972 and in Miami Florida for which I paid $48,000 and it was in a normal, lower middle-class suburban neighborhood.

We bought our first house 48 years ago and paid $21,500 for it. It was in the city but was separated from the city in a way that made it feel like a suburb.

And that's the problem with getting old, now you can't even buy a decent used car for $21,000. I think I would feel better if I wasn't able to look back and see how little I paid for things back then. But, on the other hand if I remember correctly, when I bought that Miami house I was making about six dollars an hour and the only way I could afford it was by getting a VA loan.
