Interesting photos of the buried farmhouse. I'm sure there is an interesting story here.

That old dugout house is about a mile down the road from some property I own and the dirt road my truck is sitting on is one of the ways I get to that property.

Your commentary today is correct for sure. I will not be going back to Oregon with that unfriendly attitude they are showing.

I guess in a way it's not Oregon's fault. As I'm sure you know Oregon used to be a rural place, full of hunters and fishermen, loggers and lumber mills. But a lot of folks in California seeking to get away from the misery, the crime and outrageous living expenses started moving to Oregon and Washington and bringing their California ways with them.

30 yrs ago I was a transplant from Calif. to Oregon and unlike most transplants I kept my mouth shut and learned the Oregon way. Like most states it has transformed into two states politically and culturally. The Portland metro, Salem, Eugene control the states politics and leanings. The rest of the state still has the rural mentality of loggers, mill workers, hunters and fisherman. There have been actual moves to secede a Unfortunately most transplants from Calif. want to make their new state in the image of the state they left. That attitude never ceases to amaze me. I am sure it is what happened to Colo. and is now happening in my current home in Texas. Nevada has trended that was as well as Az. and Idaho. I don't want to get into the political arena but most of the changes are cultural in nature.

P.S. When I moved to Oregon there were bumper stickers all over they said "Don't Californicate Oregon" Blitz Weinhard beer had commercials that featured Oregon Border Patrol keeping out the California Beer. One of the commercials featured a C47 smuggling Calif. beer into Oregon! The Calif. beer was called "Schludwiller"!!!!

Yeah, if you change the name Oregon to Colorado that describes pretty much what's going on here. And unfortunately that appears to be the way things go most of the time.

When I moved out of Miami Florida in the early 1980s heading for Colorado Miami was the murder and drug capital of America, thanks to uncontrolled migration from not only Cuba and Haiti but large parts of South America. A whole lot of people were leaving and the most popular bumper sticker said... "Will the last American leaving Miami please turn off the lights."

Maybe the two state area needs a name change to Calgon.

Then they would be so slippery they might just slide off into the ocean.... Wouldn't that be a shame?

Maybe Oregon is hoping that with all the foreigners gone the locals will camp more often since they no longer have to fight for sites? I'm sure glad we did our Oregon touring before this happened, though.

You could be right Linda. But in Colorado the state parks get awfully empty this time of year when the tourists go home.

Northwood is not allowing tours of the factory until further notice due to the virus. La Grande and that side of the state is still rural and still good. We attended a old time fiddlers concert in Joseph, OR and I was pleased they opened with the pledge and everyone stood and had their hand over their heart. Of course Bend and Redmond are lost causes.

Thank you for that Glenn. Every year I think I'll go to LeGrand and take a tour but something always comes up and I never seem to make it. I imagine Northwood is probably a little behind in getting trailers out the door. I know how people must feel that had their order in for a long time, and now they might not know when their shiny new fifth wheel is going to arrive. Your comment will be posted after it is approved.
