I'll be leaving elephant Butte tomorrow

Nighttime picture of the Marina and the boondocking beach on the right side of the Marina. As usual now that I'm leaving someplace I need to use up some of the pictures I took that weren't good enough to  make the first cut.

The beach has cleared out, I can see five vehicles parked there this morning. The crowds have gone, and everything is quiet and back to normal again.

I've just been relaxing today and puttering around getting the Arctic Fox ready to head North tomorrow morning. I'll be heading for Storrie Lake state Park in Las Vegas New Mexico, but I don't know when I'm going to get there. It's about 270 miles up I-25, which is doable in one hop for me, but it does exceed my self-imposed 200 mile a day limit.

There's a couple of other ways I could get there that I'm thinking about but those will be two-lane blacktop's most of the way. I'm not in a hurry, I have no self-imposed or otherwise specific day or time to be there so I could spend a few days boondocking my way there if I felt like it, I'm just not sure I feel like it.  I've mentioned before I have a one track mind and now that I'm heading North towards Denver, seeing my family is the only track my mind is on.

This is the biggest houseboat I saw cruising on the lake. There's some bigger ones tied up at the Marina, but I never saw them go anywhere.

The fishing boat is cruising along on plane. The jet ski is barely touching the water. And the sailboat is....Moving? Maybe, maybe not, only the people on board can tell.

My first campsite at Elephant Butte state Park, was far away from the lake, so far I could barely see it. And I had to pay for that site. The best sites are boondocking sites next to, or on the reservoir.

You experienced birders will recognize these two baby Eagles perched on a wire. known to us bird experts as Eaglets. These Eaglets have just hatched, and come out of the egg fully feathered and ready to fly. Some bird experts say the Eaglets are so fully formed that if you throw an Eagles eggs far enough the egg will be able to take off and fly on it's own. I don't believe that for a minute because I've thrown dozens of Eagles eggs across the field and not a one of them has flown, they just make a big mess of feathers and beaks. Maybe I should try using a large slingshot.

I was saving this picture to use next Halloween, but that's a long way off, so I decided I would use it now and get rid of it.

I figured I would make the last picture a leftover sunset picture, because the sun is setting on my trip to Elephant Butte state Park. I always enjoy long-term boondocking here, it seems like they're kind of set up for it at this State Park.

I'll return once again Lord willing. But this whole Bat flu thing has taught us all that you just never know what's going to happen tomorrow, which makes enjoying every single day of the time we're given, even more important.
