Another beautiful day boondocking in Quartzsite. It's getting down into the 40s at night around here. But days are in the low 70s, and with low humidity it's just about perfect. I do have to turn on my radiant heater for an hour or two in the mornings, but by then, the sun has warmed things up, so it's comfortable. I've been hoping for some cloudy weather to maybe get a pretty sunset picture, but so far, it's been nothing but blue skies... I reckon there are worse things I could complain about.

I've been so lazy since getting to Quartzsite I still haven't unhitched yet. Every morning I wake up and tell myself I should unhitch the Arctic Fox and drive into town to see what's going on, and every morning my procrastination gene tells my lazy gene... "You don't need to go into town today; nothing is going on; just go for a walk in the desert, then come back and relax for a while." Naturally, my lazy gene agrees wholeheartedly with this suggestion, and since I don't have a single ambition gene in my entire body that will disagree, I end up not doing anything useful. Which is okay because I don't have a "give a darn" gene either.

I will have to get up and get motivated Tuesday morning to make it to the geezer hour at the Parker Walmart. It's about a 30-minute drive, and since geezer hour starts at 6 AM, I'm going to have to get up pretty early, not looking forward to that at all.

I will probably do some stocking up on food at Walmart. I don't know what the holidays will be like with the Bat flu running around, but I can see the direction it's heading and I don't like it, so buying some extra food is probably a good idea. If nothing else, having extra food available will limit the times I need to go shopping in the future, further decreasing my exposure to the Bat flu.

Like I've mentioned in the past. To me, living through this pandemic is all about beating the odds; the fewer people you're exposed to, for the shortest length of time, the better your odds are of sneaking through this pandemic without gitten any on ya.

Yucca plant at Boyce Thompson Park Picture

There are so many varieties of this Yucca looking type plant that I can't tell the difference in any of them. Although I do recognize the Blue Agave they make Tequila out of.... I wonder why that is.

I love this Horned Toad sitting bench. Especially since Horned Toads are some of my favorite Lizards. It's big enough for two people and really looks cool. I'd like to have one but its too heavy to carry around in the Arctic Fox.

I see these all the time but I don't know what they're called. They look like miniature bananas and usually their yellow.

Ha. Yes. If it's a beautiful day, why do something else but enjoy??
And you've posted lovely photos. So. Seems enough to me. Meanwhile, yup, the formula for staying safe seems to be Time X Distance. So not long, and not close. You should be able to do your geezer stocking up.
I do love horned toads. They disappeared for some years around here. I understand they are coming back, and I'm glad. When I was a kid, we called them horny toads. I think the adults did too. Wouldn't do for today. I did have one excrete blood once; so that's a true thing. I think. It was shocking at the time. Horrid kids like to tote them around. I was one.

Thank you Judith. Being an introvert staying safe and away from people is easy for me, but I feel sorry for the gregarious types that need to be around people, this is probably a tough time for them.

I appreciate Walmart having a special Geezer hour for us old timers, I just wish it wasn't so early. They probably figured us old folks get up at the crack of dawn every morning anyway. But I never have in less there was a very important reason for getting up that early, like going fishing or hunting.

I had always called them Horny Toads, I thought that WAS their name. But I think most of us were a lot more innocent back in the day. Yes they will squirt blood out of there eyes, but I've never seen them do it. I catch one in the desert every once in a while, but they're not as plentiful as they once were. The last one I caught was a few years back when I was camping at Storrie Lake state Park in Las Vegas New Mexico. I didn't think they could live that far north, but they do.

I think it is wise to stock up through December. I was just reading a article that the Gov. of NM has locked everything down and even locks down essential business if they have had 4 positive tests connected to the business thereby closing grocery stores in some small towns. Folks are waiting in line for hours waiting to get groceries and medications (plus its cold in NM). You have the same approach that we do and minimized contact out of our circle. Be SAFE

Yeah it just makes sense to me that as long as you're buying regular groceries that your going to eat anyway, and they have a long shelf life like most canned, and frozen foods do, there's no reason not to keep an extra supply on hand during a time like this.

For some reason New Mexico has gone overboard, at least as far as I'm concerned, since the beginning of this Bat flu plague, and they don't seem to be doing any worse or any better than anyone else. I'm not sure why they've taken this route, but I did see something on the Internet several months ago that the New Mexico governor, Michelle Grisham was in line for some high-ranking post in the Biden administration, so maybe she's just demonstrating that she's a dependable team player.

Yeah that's another thing that just makes sense to me. Even though I know it breaks every RVing social etiquette rule in the books, walking up to random people and holding long conversations like we RVers have been doing since RVs were invented, is probably not a good idea now days, in my personal opinion. It's not that everybody you talk to is going to make you sick, it's just that you don't know which one will. And that's enough of a risk that will keep me laying low and waving hi to my neighbors from a distance until this mess blows over.

I have the stock up urge as well. But, Dave does our shopping and he doesn't have that urge. I wonder how many things I can put on our grocery list that he will actually buy?

Your Dave could be absolutely right, were all just guessing here. But I believe the old saying that best fits the situation would be.... "Better safe than sorry".
