it's better than last time.....so far.

Another day of crawling out of bed before dawn just to get a picture of the sun coming up, as if it's never happened before, and I'm compelled to record it.

Everyplace can have beautiful sunrises and sunsets but sunsets like that don't come along very often. But there's two places where you have the best chance of getting very nice sunrises and sunsets a lot of the time, and that's deserts, and the coast.

I spend a fair amount of time in the desert Southwest so I get plenty of time to get some nice pictures of sunrises and sunsets there, but getting pictures of sunrises on the coast are more rare for me so the opportunity to do so is special enough that I'm willing to drag myself out of bed before the sun comes up even if there's only a 10% chance of getting a decent picture.

I'm definitely enjoying my stay on Padre island more than last time since the weather has been a lot better. It's been kind of windy, but that's pretty normal near the seashore, but the temperatures have been in the 70s which is a lot warmer than when I was here during the month of December.

I don't think I'll be here long enough to get used to this humidity, It's been running between 70 and 100% since I got here. And what it means is I get chilly and put on my long sleeve insulated shirt, look at the thermometer in the living room and it says 72°. In Colorado I'm comfortable wearing a T-shirt when it's 60 and now I'm chilly when it's 72. I don't think I could ever get used to that, and I'm pretty sure I don't want to.

But overall I'm happy here. There's places around here that I could boondock, but I really like the location of the Padre Balli campground, I'm just a few feet from the beach, the sand dunes give me a little protection from the wind, it's great to have the Bob Hall pier right outside my door, and it only cost $150 for their weekly rate, which is pretty reasonable to have hookups right next to the beach and access to a 1240 foot fishing pier.

And speaking of fishing, as I was walking home from the beach this morning I met these two gentlemen in the Bob Hall pier parking lot and they asked me to take a picture of their fish. Now this Spanish Mackerel isn't the biggest fish in the world but they were as proud of it as if it were, and being a fisherman myself I understand that feeling completely. So great job guys, It was my honor to take your picture.
