I wish I didn't have to leave here already, I'm going to miss this view.

Yeah, my hopscotching from campsite to campsite has finally come to an end here at Rockhound, and I'm going to have to move on. I wish I could've stayed longer, but there are too many people that want to be here, so in less, I'm willing to make reservations weeks ahead of time I'm stuck just taking the scraps of camping spots nobody else wanted, but now even those have finally run out.

I do have plans for the next two days, though. Tomorrow night I'll spend at the Walmart parking lot here in Deming, and then I've got a one-night reservation at the City of Rocks State Park near Silver City. I've stayed there several times, but this will be the first time I've had to have a reservation and can only stay for one night.

While I'm at the City of Rocks, I'll check with the Rangers and see if they've had any cancellations that I could use to stay longer. Unfortunately, that information can't be checked on the Internet, and the Rangers don't even know until the last minute, but I don't mind. Living in the bronco, has simplified my life enough that I can either pack up and move to a different State Park, or pack up and move to a different campsite; it doesn't much matter to me.... Home is where the heart is, and since I don't have to lug a trailer everywhere I go, my heart and my home is wherever I happen to be.

Rockhound is a great place for sunsets, the view goes on forever.

A front came through yesterday and I don't think it ever got above 60°. The front brought winds, and the winds brought dust.

I'm going to miss the sunsets around here.

Like I said when I first got here, the sunrises are not all that great. The suns been up for half an hour before it ever gets over the top of the mountains, so it doesn't have all the colors a sunset has.

There is a roadside rest area south of City of Rocks on 180 that folks have overnighted in as well as the boon dock sites at the Escapees park in Deming that I think you have used before.

Thanks for the heads-up on the roadside rest area, I didn't know about that place. Actually the Escapees Park boondocking area was plan "B" if Walmart didn't work out for some reason.

Since I've never been to Poncho Villa before I checked their reservations a couple of days ago and it seemed like there was an awful lot of available sites empty which kind of gave me the willies, since other state parks I've looked at are full or almost full, and it made me wonder about the safety of being that close to the border these days.

And speaking of border safety, Del Rio has been on the news a lot lately with the problems they're having and the Mayor complaining about all those people being dumped in his lap and no money to take care of them. Stay safe, desperate people can do desperate things, and I learned that from living in Miami Florida when it was the murder capital of America.

I have fond memories of that Walmart since our daughter came to meet me there in her company truck one time. Otherwise I mostly stayed at the SKP park where I could do laundry.

Your daughter picked a good and well known place to park a truck, because the Walmart parking lot was full of trucks when I stopped in this morning.

That SKP Park is still there and I think I've only paid for regular hookup spot once all the rest of the time I've stayed over in dry-camping which used to be about seven or eight dollars a night for dry-camping if you were a member. But I haven't been a member for many years, and as long as Travis Carr is president, have no intention of ever doing so.

I let my SKP membership lapse in 2012 so I have no idea what Travis might be doing. I do still participate in their free forum but Travis doesn't so I still don't know what he is doing.

I could tell you what my problems with Travis are but it has to do with his acceptance, and support of a hate group that burns buildings, encourages the killing of policeman, And can easily attack poor little blogs like mine.
