Morning at Picacho peak state Park

Some of my neighbors at Picacho Peak State Park. A lot of RVers dream of being at this place, at this time when there somewhere that's up to their eyeballs in ice and snow.

The Spanish named this mountain Picacho, which in Spanish means "peak"... So the real name of this Park is actually, peak peak state Park.

This is very similar to Americans calling our favorite snack food pizza pie, when pizza in Italian already means pie.

But who cares, we're Americans and we say whatever we darn well please!

On a peaceful morning at Picacho State Park, I woke up at 7 o'clock, just when the sun was breaking the horizon, and wandered around my campsite in my pajamas, taking a few pictures of the sunrise. Just about that time, the Park Ranger came driving by; since it was just light enough to see, probably checking to make sure everybody belongs here; fortunately, my pajamas consisted of sweats, so he just waved as he drove by instead of arresting me for indecent exposure.

I didn't do much today; I just walked on one of the many walking trails they have just to work out the aches and pains from my arduous two-hour drive yesterday. I'll be glad when they come out with a self-driving truck, so I can sit in the passenger seat and take pictures out the window while the truck, unbeknownst to me, sets a course for Nova Scotia.

There's been a lot of rain in Arizona and unseasonably cool temperatures, and everything is greener than I've ever seen it. I'm not sure what that means, but I hope it means there might be a Super-Bloom of flowers in Arizona this Spring.

A tale of two truck campers. The Arctic Fox truck camper in the foreground is an extremely well-made, well thought out, and very expensive truck camper that weighs a ton... Actually it weighs about 2 tons fully loaded and takes the heavy dutyest truck .... [ I just made that word up ].... to tote it around.

And maybe it's just my eyes but the Arctic Fox appears to be listing  to starboard.

The Lance in the background, on the other hand, is an inexpensive truck camper that is made and laid out in a manner to keep the cost down. It doesn't have costly accessories, or bunches of insulation like the previously mentioned camper does, its appeal lies in affordability, and relatively lightweight. And of those two things lightweight was the most important to me, or I would have to buy a heavier duty truck, and right now my truck has all the duty I can afford.

I have a nice view of the mountains, but there are a couple of RVs between me and the mountains. And my rule of thumb is; to really like the place I'm at, I have to have at least one direction I can look without seeing an RV.

But since I don't like to make reservations I have to take whatever they give me that's left over after the reservation people have picked the best spots. So I have to deal with whatever hand I'm dealt at campgrounds, which makes me appreciate and enjoy the freedom of boondocking even more.

This Mercedes camper Van appears to have a Starlink Internet receiver on a pole, at least that's what I assume it is. Starlink appears to be the future, I just don't know if it's my future.

Because of my past annoyance with putting the Bronco truck campers roof up and down, I have a lingering aversion to having to do anything before I can drive away. I don't mind taking a couple of things off my kitchen counter. Other than that I don't want to be removing poles and wires outside before I can drive to the store.

The clouds were too thick to have a spectacular sunset, but standing on the side of a hill watching the sun come down was a pleasant experience.
