Hm. Red and yellow leaves of autumn - haven't seen them (other than one or two trees at a time( in quite a while, but I've had the impression that they are stronger, brighter with grey darker skies instead of being so blinding in sunshine. They seem to me to pick up whatever light there is. And there is more contrast. Well, you can see what you think on your trip!!

Around here our most common tree in the mountains that has colorful leaves are Aspens, and their for the most part yellow. And I always liked the way they glowed in the sunshine. But as you surmised I should be around various trees under various lighting circumstances in the mountains starting tomorrow, and if I can get a few snapshots, maybe we can both see which looks better.

I am of the firm opinion that sunshine makes the leaves more colorful. Gray days just don't do it for me. I'm looking forward to seeing if your photos change my mind.

I just arrived at San Luis State wildlife area little bit ago and unfortunately there's no Aspen trees around here to turn yellow. I did take some pictures of the leaves on the way here but it was a sunny day. But maybe as I ran around looking for some Sandhill cranes I will find some leaves when it's cloudy.
