With the Castle having first class rolling gear under it now, my itch is getting pretty strong also. I have two weeks to make up my mind. But I definitely want to stay in warmer climates.

Yeah me too; I find it harder and harder to deal with cold weather, which must be normal because what else would explain all the snowbirds?

I've been studying lithium batteries and solar power for upgrades to my system. How many batteries do you have (what wattage each) and number of solar panels? Size of controller. Do you have an idea of your demand? I guess I want to know how your system is working in real life. Discussions in the solar world end up like "keeping up with the jones" and my "system is bigger than your system".

It only took a quick glance at your comments to realize I had a blog post for the day, which comes at a good time because it's getting more and more difficult to find something to talk about everyday. But I can briefly answer your second comment.

I have 340 watts of solar and two 100 ah AGM Wal-Mart batteries in my solar set up installed in September of 2008. My controller was sized to be able to triple my panels in the future. They are just enough for desert camping for me. BUT I live a simple life, LED lighting installed a few years ago made a dramatic increase in my battery life per charge. My boondocking is normally for 3-5 months a year is all but in those months I have sufficient power for my simple life.

Thank you for that information Barney. I think for any boondocker simplicity in everything is the best way to go. As for me, simplicity is freedom, but at the same time my personal comfort is writ large in everything I do.
