Boondocking at Lake Havasu Arizona

A peaceful night's sleep followed by a warm day with sunny blue skies.

I definitely don't like making plans, but sometimes circumstances make plans without much input from me, and now is one of those times. I will leave here on February 20 to get to Ben Avery's gun range without hurrying. I could leave on Monday the 19th, but the only thing I dislike more than traveling on weekends is traveling on a holiday, and since Monday is Presidents' Day, I will remain in Havasu until Tuesday.

And yes, I know it's only about 200 miles from me to the Ben Avery gun range, but I seldom drive to cover great distances nowadays. I have plenty of time to get places and don't mind using it. So I'll probably stop for a night or two when I get to Quartzsite, and I'll probably stop for a night or two in Wickenburg, which is less than an hour from Ben Avery.

There are several reasons I drive like that,  the first being that I can get to where I'm going way before lunch, which means I beat all the people looking for a boondocking spot late in the afternoon. Late afternoon is a terrible time to look for a camping spot.

Another reason is I haven't worn myself to a frazzle driving through rush-hour traffic trying to get someplace, exposing myself to a better chance of being in a wreck. Staying off the roads when there's a lot of traffic is something I couldn't avoid when I worked for a living, but I can now and always try to do so.

But the most important reason is... I'm lazy. So, anything I can do to make my life easier with less effort, I will find and adopt. When traveling for business, I would stay at hotels and motels, so I had to drive great distances because that saved me money on hotels and motels. But with my tiny -home on my back like a turtle, it doesn't matter how many nights it takes me to get someplace because, for the most part, I'm sleeping for free. Driving short distances is easier than driving long distances, and being lazy, easy is always better.
