Putting batteries in the Lance

Another day comes and goes in Denver. And nothing changes except me getting a day older. Temperatures are slowly decreasing, the high 60s being a normal temperature for the daytime and a chilly 40s at night. But, of course, it's a lot warmer than the 20s in Alamosa; I guess everything is relative.

I moved two of my lithium iron batteries into the Lance. I haven't hooked them up yet. I'm waiting till I move the other two, which will probably be tomorrow because that's how long it takes me to recover from moving the first two.

Carrying the batteries from the Arctic box to the Lance isn't all that difficult, but getting them out from under the bed is. The Arctic fox's bed Is like a queen-size storage box with a mattress on top. The box is roughly 2 feet deep, which gave me a lot of storage under the bed, but trying to wrestle those batteries out of the box is something I've been putting off until I absolutely had to do it.

Some batteries have a built-in handle so that they can be lifted fairly easily..... Unfortunately, these don't, so getting them out of the bed storage box and up to a carrying position, though not impossible, is not going to be mistaken for a fun way to spend the afternoon.

During this last mini-vacation, since it got rather chilly at night, I discovered my shore-power electric cord for the Lance is one of those cheap, stiff cords that makes it almost impossible to roll up and put away, especially in the morning when it's 25° outside. It was like dealing with a frozen hose; I could barely stuff it into its rather commodious cubicle. The good news is, being a long-term boondocker I seldom plug-in, so hopefully it won't be a problem I have to deal with very often.
