![]() I'm boondocked in an RV park on the Missouri River, which for some strange reason is located in Montana. I say boondocked because I'm staying in an overflow area with no hookups. I actually like doing that because I had rather be off by myself, and there's no sense paying for hookups if I don't need them. ![]() I don't know if you could tell from the pictures but the sky here has been very smoky since I got to Montana, and the farther west I go the worse it gets. There are a lot of wildfires and forest fires burning in western Montana since it's been so dry this summer and the smoke in the air is starting to bother my eyes so tomorrow I'm scrapping my plans to go to Glacier National Park, where there's at least one fire burning, packing up and heading south.

Twice in my travels I have had to run from wildfires and once from just the smoke. It is difficult to plan around random events. Be Safe.

I've had to evacuate my home in the Colorado mountains twice in the last 30 years but fortunately the fires never came close enough to me to be a problem. But it did give me a healthy respect for forest fires. So now the air is just a little smoky but it brings back some unkind memories of my past experiences with forest fires. And even though I have the utmost sympathy for the poor folks having to deal with these fires I had just as soon be as far away as possible.

If you haven't left Montana yet, I recommend a day trip along the Beartooth Highway in southern Montana/northern Wyoming just northeast of Yellowstone. It is one of the top 5 places I've seen in my travels. I wouldn't take your trailer since that would cause difficulty in pulling off at some of the great places. If you want an idea of what it looks like, here is my blog post on it: http://gozatravels.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-remarkable-beartooth-highway-mostly.html

I've actually been over Beartooth pass several years back and you're right it is a fantastic drive with a calendar picture around every curve. That was one of the ways I would use to get to Yellowstone or to Cody Wyoming which has one of the premier gun and Western art museums in the United States.
