Sunday is a day of rest

Clicking the pics is all I can do today, because of all that standing and walking yesterday my finger is the only thing that doesn't hurt.

By the way the winner of the barrel race went around the barrels in 16 point something seconds. That horse has to be moving pretty fast, and get awful close around those barrels to go that far in 16 seconds.

Usually I don't do themes but today I decided I needed a theme for today's pictures, and I call it "odd things I saw at the barrel race."

They were having a drag race over at the Fairgrounds dragstrip today; and I could tell because there's no mistaking the sound of a top fuel funny car going down the dragstrip at 300 miles an hour. But I had just about enough standing and walking around yesterday's barrel race to make the thought of doing it again sound more like torture than fun. I'm sure they'll have another drag race by the time I can feel my feet again. I can remember a time not so long ago when standing and walking for eight hours wasn't a problem.

Last night just about dark, another boondocker pulled into the boondocking area in what looks like a box truck converted to an RV. And when I woke this morning yet, another boondocker pulled in with one of those fiberglass rolling egg kinda trailers.... I'm being slowly suffocated.

I also didn't go over to the gun show today for the reasons I've mentioned previously, but mostly due to a lack of interest. But gun shows are a good example of me standing and walking for long periods of time. When I would go to a big gun show such as the Tulsa Oklahoma gun show, which is in a convention center and was advertised as having 4000 tables, it would take me all day Saturday to walk around and look at things on every table. And after boondocking overnight in the convention center parking lot, I would get up on Sunday morning and do it again. But that was about ten years ago, so I guess I'm out of practice.

I think one of my best displays of extended walking was every year when I would attend the "SHOT SHOW" in Las Vegas. Shot Show stands for the Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade Show. I had an FFL "Federal Firearms License" back then since I was selling guns, so I was always invited to the show. And it was so big that if you walked past every display that every outdoor business had set up at the Shot Show, you would've walked 12 miles.

So the first day, I would walk past everything making notes on what was interesting and then spend the next three days visiting the products that caught my eye and making purchases for resale. Needless to say, that was then, and this is now, and I would have to have EMTs wheel me around on a Gurney to do that today.

This actually bothered me, as far as I'm concerned, this kid was way too small to be riding, as opposed to sitting on a horse.

I'm terrible at judging anybody's age so what is this little girl? Three, four years old? Probably way too young to control a horse. The only thing I can figure is her mother wants to be able to tell her when she's grown that she's been barrel racing since she was three years old.

Now where do I start with this one? Especially without insulting anyone.

So in an effort not to stay anything I shouldn't,  let me first say, she was really good, and had obviously been barrel racing for a long long time, maybe since before there were horses.

I used to do some pretty crazy things on dirt motorcycles but I eventually got old enough to realize that I couldn't keep flipping over the handlebars and continue to get up, and walk it off... I don't think this lady's figured that out yet.

I would suggest this lady give up the horse racing hobby and do something a little less dangerous like skydiving or mountain climbing.

I don't know if this is weird or not, but I've never seen it done before

These two ladies were riding around the barrel race together. They were sorta racing each other, but I couldn't tell why. Just so you'll know, barrel racing is a timed event and your racing against the clock, not against each other.

Then there was this little girl, who looked about nine or ten years old to me.

The odd thing about her is she actually knew what she was doing, was doing it well. And had a smile on her face the whole time she was racing around the barrels. Hurray for her!

Last but not least was this horse that was either taking breakdancing lessons, or couldn't figure out which way to go.

I'm going with the breakdancing, because horses always know which way to go, people don't, but horses do
