Even something as mundane as a dandelion can be beautiful. nature has a way of doing that to almost everything.

I went to a grocery store and got my flu shot today. I don't know if the flu shot keeps me from getting it, but it makes me feel like I've done something to help prevent it.

It's been at least 20 or more years since I've had the flu, and in those days, I wasn't taking the flu shot since I always got sick the day after the Air Force forced all of us to take the flu shot. But that doesn't seem to be the case anymore, so I get a flu shot yearly.

The druggist at the grocery store was pushing the new Covid shot while giving me the regular flu shot. But I'm done with bat flu shots; I had the bat flu last summer and wouldn't have even known I had it if I hadn't failed two bat flu tests in a row.

So I've had two bat flu shots, back when the bat flu was a big deal, and a one-week case of the bat flu when it was no big deal, so I'm done with the shots, I'm done with the worry, and I'm definitely done with the lockdowns even though I have little control over that other than I will not, under any circumstance, vote for any politician that proposes any form of lockdowns... This country has suffered enough.

Since I never have a day in mind for the kickoff of my winter travels, other than someday in October, that usually means that due to my one-track mind, September is typically when I start getting physically and mentally ready to head south.

Since I'm living in the Lance, physically there's very little to do anymore before I go. There are no bearings to grease; no trailer tires to rotate; there's no trailer brakes to adjust, there's no several miles of worry when I first start towing the trailer hoping it will hold together. There's no airing up the truck tires to hold the trailer since the tires are already aired up to hold the Lance. There's just not much of anything I have to do to the Lance to get it ready to go...since its my daily driver, It has to stay ready to go whether it's to the grocery store, or to the Arizona desert.

So most of what I have to do is mental, meaning that I will look up events that are happening this winter in the places I go, such as car shows in Laughlin, Nevada, a rodeo in Tucson, Arizona, a balloon rally in New Mexico, when the Sandhill Cranes start showing up at the Bosque Del Apache in New Mexico. These things are interesting to me; And may offer some picture-taking opportunities. After all, taking snapshots is the only hobby I have left, and one of the few feasible hobbys I can have living in a home as tiny as the Lance.

I sometimes do other things to prepare for leaving in October; I may take a brief trip to get myself in a traveling mood. But mostly, I think about all the good times I've had boondocking in the winter in the desert Southwest, and it helps me to get over how much I'm going to miss my family in Denver.

Having owned a couple of restaurants I can tell right off the bat that I can't afford to eat in this place... Heck! I could barely afford to eat in my restaurants and I gave myself a substantial discount.

But any restaurant that spends this much money on decorations has to pay for it with the price of the food.

I wouldn't even have attempted to park here on Main Street if I had been dragging the Arctic Fox fifth wheel behind me. But with my tiny home I can park anyplace normal folks can park.

Living in the Arctic Fox if I wanted to take pictures of a town I had to either find a large vacant area where I could leave the truck, and the Arctic Fox, walk some distance to the place I wanted to take pictures of, or camp for the night, unhook, and drive to town. Neither of those Options is convenient, and that caused me to miss a lot of places where I would have enjoyed stopping and taking some pictures.

Being able to park like a regular vehicle solved that problem.

letting go of yesterday is the only way to begin the journey of today.

Sounds to me like you are trying to talk me into a truck camper and you are doing a pretty good job of it.

No Barney, you've got many years of expertise on me in the wonderful world of full-timing, and far be it from me to talk anyone into anything. All I do is talk about what works for me knowing full well everyone's life is different and very little of what I do would work for anyone else.

At this point in my life simplifying it seems to make me happy. And a truck camper is much easier to deal with than most other types of campers that I could live in and still be comfortable. A truck camper is definitely not for everybody but I feel that the mobility it affords me is worth the trade-off of not having much storage room. Probably because I can live with less things in my life, but I sure like the benefit of being able to go anywhere my truck can go and still live fairly comfortable.

So not to worry Barney, there's hundreds of different RVs out there because there's 100 different ways RVers want to live and travel. And I would say that a truck camper is down near the bottom of choices most RVers would pick.

You have documented how well the TC works for you over a travel trailer. I agree with you especially for a solo traveler. My (our) life style requires different choices. In my research of different RV's I have discovered a different aspect of issues concerning types of RV's. The issues is safety in case of an accident. It seems that most Class A's are not built with the collision features that PU trucks, Class B, and some Class C's are built with. Class A manufactures do no collision testing. There are numerous postings on the web about accidents after a blow out. There are issues with travel trailers that are not properly loaded. My main problem with my TT has been tires. I change them every 5-6 years now and that seems to have helped in that area. You have probably adopted the safest form of Rv travel other that a Class B. I think the keys to TC is not overloading and getting to top heavy.

Did you hear about the Gov. of New Mexico suspending the second amendment by declaring a health emergency in the counties around Albuquerque due to gun violence.
