things are shaping up for a great weekend

The Fairgrounds rodeo arena where most of the events will be held this weekend. You can see how far it is from the spectator stands on the left side to where the rough stock comes out of the chutes next to the little red announcers building. Most of the rough stock, especially the bulls, do not get very far from the chutes so the spectators are pretty far from the action. I'm hoping that's not going to happen to me.

I've noticed that there's hardly anybody over at the full hookup sites across the road from me, I would say there's less than half there were when I got here. I don't know why that is but I'm guessing it might be because the Quartzite "Big Show" is going to start about the middle of the month and maybe folks are starting to mosey in that direction. Or it could be that even though I'm on the other side of the road from them I'm still "too close."

Another thing that's going on is I've been seeing a lot of, what looks to be new RVs coming into the Fairgrounds and heading over in the direction where the last RV show was several weeks ago. I wonder if there's going to be another RV show this weekend? I reckon I ought to wander over there and take a look.........

BREAKING NEWS!! Anonymous sources are now confirming that there is another RV show at the fairgrounds this weekend, we reported on this earlier and now it's been confirmed. Updates at the top of the hour...... And now we return to our regular blog.....

I went to the Arizona high school rodeos website to find out more about the rodeo this weekend and it says that the barrel racing is going to be held indoors which kind of concerns me and brings back terrible memories of the abject failures I had taking pictures at the cutting competition last weekend.

I like to take pictures of the barrel racing because the horses are galloping full speed which makes for some interesting pictures when they go around the barrels, and to capture that requires a very fast shutter speed which is hard to do shooting indoors because of the lack of light. I think the indoor arena they will be using is the one where the Dressage events and the dog agility competitions were held. I don't think it will be held at the covered arena where the Cattle Cutting events took place, because I don't believe that arena is big enough for barrel racing. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

The rest of the events will all be held at the rodeo arena which is outdoors and is properly set up to handle all the rough stock that will have to be brought in.

It looks like the barrel races will be held at the indoor arena where the dog and dressage events were held last month..... I can't believe I've been someplace so long I can talk about what happened last month.... there's a skid loader preparing the dirt floor already.

Well bowl me over and call me Francis if there's not another RV show at the fairgrounds this weekend.

It's hard to believe the Tucson dealerships drag all these RVs to the fairgrounds once a month. I bet they'll be taking these things to the Big Show in Quartzsite when it starts. These RVs are gonna have more miles on them by the time they're sold than they'll ever get from their new owners.
