Too lazy to leave

I didn't do much today except walk around Tombstone and take a few snapshots. Since I've been here so many times this year, there's not much for me to see, but I enjoy the ambiance.

I decided to stay here for another day, but I need to leave tomorrow because Thursday looks like it will be windy, so I need to get to wherever I'm going before the wind hits. Driving in the wind now with the Lance on my back is not dangerous like it was pulling a trailer, but it still makes driving a bit more tiring and can be a serious detriment to good fuel mileage.

I plan on first stopping at the New Mexico Rockhound State Park, where I will buy a nonresident New Mexico Park pass and try to camp there; if they have any room, I'll call that plan "A." Unfortunately, I don't have a reservation, so they probably won't, and in that case, I will boondock at either the Walmart in Deming, New Mexico, Plan "B," or the Escapees in Deming, plan "C," and spend the night there.

I usually don't have to use a plan "C" but it's always nice to know it's there just in case. I consider any worry or stress I can remove from my life as beneficial, and making sure I have a place to stay for the night is essential to keep my life as worry free as possible.

Sometimes when I'm walking the streets of Tombstone after dark, and all of the "living" people have gone, I can hear the echoes of the boot steps on these wooden walkways, and the clopping of the horses hooves on the dried dirt of Allen street; are they real sounds? Or just my imagination trying to get in touch with the past?

I don't know, I suspect its just wishful thinking on my part. But I feel there could be spirits of the long dead that haven't yet come to grips with their merciless demise, and now they walk these streets when it's dark and deserted trying to find an explanation for what befell them so long ago.

But for the living that's ancient history and no one cares what happened or why, and that leaves the spirits of those that died a violent death in limbo, unable to return, and unable to move on. Forever trapped in Tombstone; "The Town To Tough To Die."

as I wandered around the vulture mine I kept running into these weird pieces of "art??" "sculptures??" mixed in with old mining equipment, some of which looked like they sorta belonged at the mine, except that they were weird. And other things were so odd they didn't belong anywhere on this earth.

 I accidentally ran into the guy responsible for these weird "sculptures" outside his studio, balancing oddly shaped rocks on top of one another. I didn't know who he was or that he made these weird sculptures, but as I was walking by I commented to him that "balancing rocks looks awfully difficult," and he said "everything has a balance point". Never one to let a response like that go to waste, I commented "you apparently haven't been around many old people!" He found that rather funny, invited me into his studio, and we must have talked for an hour about what he had done in his life, and what he wanted to accomplish in the future.

He's an amazing man, with a talent stack that boggles the mind, and he was kind enough to let me take pictures in his studio of some of the things he does. When I get a chance I'll show some of the pictures I took and tell you more about the man.
