There's not much going on here, but that's how I had planned it. Ajo is the kind of town where relaxing in the shade of a Saguaro is an Olympic sport, and I come here every year to keep in shape.

The temperature made it up to the mid-70s today, but thankfully, the humidity was in the high teens, so it felt comfortable, not hot.

 I replenished my water supply yesterday, my truck is full of diesel, I can't afford to buy groceries in Ajo,  I don't feel like wandering around in the desert because of the border problems, and no military planes are flying overhead to take pictures of. That pretty much leaves nothing to do in Ajo except relax in the shade of a Saguaro and thank my lucky stars that I'm not anywhere else.

Years of living and traveling have taught me many things, and one of the things I learned about keeping warm, which seldom fails, is "trust nature." And one of the things nature tells me is if you want to be warm stay where the plants that have to be warm live and thrive.

After living in Miami, Florida, for a couple of decades, it was obvious by all the tropical plants that grow wild in Miami that it has a tropical climate, because if it didn't those tropical plants couldn't survive there, so Miami has long been one of those popular places people go to when they want to escape the snow and cold of where they live.

After spending many years poking around  Arizona, it became obvious to me that Arizona itself is not a warm place; up in the Flagstaff area, they get lots of snow. But once you get into the area of Phoenix and further South, an interesting thing happens... Saguaro cactus thrive. And where Saguaros can live, it has to stay fairly warm most of the time. It can get cold in the desert areas, but it doesn't last. And yes, it can even snow, but it's gone by lunchtime;  Saguaros can't freeze, or they will die.

So I would say that as far as full-time RVers are concerned, you don't need reams of weather statistics or highly paid weather forecasters telling you the right place to spend the winters; just look to Mother Nature. And when you see the tropical jungles of southern Florida or the giant Saguaros in the Sonoran Desert of southern Arizona, there may be plenty of other problems, but you can rest assured it won't get too cold for too long.
