It felt really strange writing this blog post realizing that after about 10 years of blogging, this is probably the last one on my old Weebly blog.

I'm writing this while I'm boondocked at the Antero reservoir and don't have any pictures ready to put on the Internet yet. I could put some old ones on this blog post like I've been doing this summer, but I need to get out of that habit and try to get enough new stuff to last me until I head South for the winter.

I guess you could say this is the end of an era for me, I started my almost daily blogging with my old Weebly blog when I first went full-time, now it looks like I'll be ending up my blogging with Squarespace which may last me until the bitter end.

Like I had mentioned before Weebly was no longer being supported which means sooner or later it will wither and die and I didn't want my blog to wither and die along with it, so a change had to be made.

My new blog will look different but it's still the same. A lot of the changes I made were to make putting out my blog everyday quicker and easier on me, because like most things in life the easier something is the more likely I am to do it.

So the next time you hear from me, with any luck, it will be on my new blog which can be found at

I obviously couldn't use my old .com address, since theboondork.com is still open. But when I close my old Weebly blog I will still own theboondork.com and maybe I will change the new Squarespace blog back to the old blog's address.

So adiós amigos I'll be leaving now, but I shall return in a new form.... Older, wiser, but just as lazy, procrastinating, and geezerly as before. New form but the same old boondork.

Casa Bonita in Denver. I didn't go to this restaurant with the family, and probably never will because I was told it took almost a year to get reservations.

I'm getting the camper ready to travel. Getting the camper ready to hit the road usually takes very little time. But, when I stay in one place for a while, I tend to spread out with things just sitting around that would fall and make a mess unless I put them all away.

I will leave tomorrow morning at about 9:30, which gives rush-hour traffic time to get out of my way. It's only about 90 miles to Antero Reservoir, so it will take a little while to get there. Still, I'll probably stop here and there to take a few pictures since pictures for my new blog are the main reason I'm going there.

Speaking of the new blog, I probably won't use it the day I get there, which will be Tuesday, because it will take me a while to get the pictures resized and ready for the Internet. So it will probably be Wednesday before I put the new blog online.

After I put the new blog online, I will continue to monitor my old blog to make sure everyone gets the message about my new location. You can comment on the old blog if you're having any problems with the new one. In fact, I will probably keep the old blog online, and continue to monitor it, until it's time to pay for another year, and I don't know when that is, but whenever it is, I guess that's when my old blog will go dark.

Another reason I didn't go to Casa Bonita is I might have to wear a silly balloon hat and that would conflict with my normal attire of looking like a homeless bum.

I've seen homeless bums that are dressed pretty strange, but never with a silly balloon hat on.

My grandsons hat is not so silly because it's a realistic looking space alien riding on his back using some kind of mind control to be taken to our leader!

But the jokes on the space alien, as soon as he finds out who our leader is he will laugh his way back to whatever planet he came from.

My granddaughter meeting something that looks like a bear, or a pig or maybe a Chupacabra.

Inside the Casa Bonitas very colorful interior. But I don't think it makes the food taste any better, and I don't go places where I have to beg to be fed. But it does look like the kind of place where a taco cost $20.

At least the kids at a good time, and in the end that's what counts.

Yesterday my family, and one of my grandsons friends, went to the "Corn Maze" just down the road from where they live. They have this every October as part of a Halloween kinda thing.

It appears to be a place where the parents send the kids running off into a large cornfield where they will get lost and spend the entire winter living on corn.

They well eventually find their way out of course, but meanwhile the parents get to spend a peaceful few months of skiing in the mountains without a bunch of noisy kids tagging along.

Tuesday looks good for a trip to Antero Reservoir and a few days of boondocking. It's supposed to cloud up then, so there will be a chance of a decent sunrise and sunset picture. High temperatures will be in the 60s, and low temperatures will be in the 30s and 40s, so the weather is shaping up well.

There will still be some pretty leaves left on the trees by then, even though there are not many leaves or trees at Antero Reservoir. It's in an open area of South Park, which some people don't like for its lack of shade, but it's great for someone like me who lives on sunshine. We have yet to have a storm that would blow the leaves off, but you never know how long the leaves will last this time of year. In some years, the leaves will hang around until the middle of October, and in other years, they'll be gone by now. Timing the leaves for a mini-vacation is tenuous at best.

When it gets chilly in the mountains, my thoughts turn to the Sandhill cranes and their migration to the Alamosa, Colorado, area. I like to go there every year and take a few pictures, even though the very few cranes that I spot near Alamosa are nothing compared to what I see at the Bosque Del Apache in New Mexico and Whitewater Draw in Arizona. It still puts me in the mood to head South along with the Cranes, where I may be seeing them again as I spend the day beside the lakes at the Bosque, watching the cranes go about their daily lives. I think I would miss that most of all if I could no longer afford to go to New Mexico in the winter.

Apparently throughout the maze there are life-size cutouts of various Colorado critters. And every once in a while they will have a live bear or mountain lion in the maze, just to keep the kids on their toes.

This is the last picture taken of the kids, and they've still got smiles on their faces.... Little do they know.

If you would like to learn what happens to all these kids in the "corn maze" all winter, just read a book called "Lord of the flies" and It will give you a clue.
