Box Wash
Wickenburg Arizona |
Box wash is a beautiful place to boondock if you like the desert environment. It's only about 6 miles south of Wickenburg, it has hiking trails and Jeep trails, and it looks like it won't be too crowded. I was there during a very busy time of year, middle of February, gold rush days that week, and a three day weekend for Presidents' Day, and there was still plenty of places to boondock.

Congress- Wickenburg AZ. area
|
This location would not be one of my first picks if I was in the Congress- Wickenburg area. It's very close to escapees North ranch RV Park, and 6 or 8 miles from the town of Congress and some shopping. Verizon is excellent and the roads are not too bad, but there's water in the area where animals drink and by law you have to stay 1/4 mile away from waterholes. I didn't stay here because I found a better place.

Congress Arizona
|
I chose this place to stay while in Congress Arizona. There was a handful of people Boondocking there, it was quiet, very easy to get to and I think just about any RV would have no problems with the roads. It was only 3 or 4 miles from the town of Congress and Verizon was good. It was clearly marked as a BLM dispersed camping area so I could relax knowing I wasn't breaking any laws. I stayed there for several days and will go back again when I'm in that area.

Quartzsite Arizona
Golden Nugget Rd. |
I've never camped in this area myself, Because it's kind of far from Quartzsite. But it might come in handy if other places get too crowded. I only drove about 3 miles or so down that 1st road at the right fork, if you go much farther it turns into a wilderness area where no vehicles are allowed.

LTVAs |
The LTVA's are BLM dispersed camping sites that you have to pay for. The cost are either, $180 for 6 months, or $40 for 2 weeks. For your money you get dumpsters for your trash, a place to dump your black and gray water tanks, and potable water. But like all Boondocking there are no hookups, you have to take your RV to the drinking water and the dump site. The 6 months starts September 15th and ends April 15th. And unlike the free Boondocking BLM sites, you don't have to move every 28 days. You can buy the passes to use the LTVA's at the entrance to all of the sites.

Road Runner |
The road runner BLM dispersed camping area is one of my favorite places, it's relatively quiet, there are no questionable roads to drive on, it's clearly marked BLM camping, Verizon is good and as far as I can tell the whole place is level. Which reminds me, in all of these desert areas I've boondocked I've only had to level the trailer up once and that was in craggy wash. About the only downside to the road runner site is that it's about 5 miles from Quartzsite and there are other good places to camp that are a little closer than that. I've stayed at the road runner before and I will definitely stay there again.

Dome Rock |
Dome rock looked like a nice place to stay to me, It's close to town, it has good Verizon service, and it's very close to the paved road. Some people may feel like being close to the paved road is not a good thing, for instance its noisier. But some of the good things are, if it's raining hard and things get muddy you don't have far to go to be on the paved road, and the RV and its tires don't have to take the beating that a couple of miles of dirt road can give it. This also looked like a good place to stay if you have an ATV or a dirt bike. I would have no problems staying here.

Hi Jolly and Plomosa Road |
I've stayed at both high jolly and Plomosa road and they're both great places to stay. They're both pretty much alike, one is a little bit closer to town than the other, but you can't go wrong with either one I usually pick the one that's least crowded.

Parker AZ.
Shea Road |
I didn't stay at the Shea Road BLM area but it looked like a good place to stay if you have some kind of off-road vehicle. It's kind of far from town but the roads are very good. I plan on getting a dirt motorcycle one of these days to hang on the back of the Arctic Fox and Shea road BLM dispersed camping looked like a place I would go back to

Lake Havasu AZ.
Lonetree |
I didn't stay at Lonetree BLM dispersed camping but the next time I'm in Lake Havasu I probably will. It's only a few miles to Walmart, gas stations, and a shopping center. Verizon is good, the roads are no problem for any size vehicle, and there's plenty of places to Park and turn around. There's still a couple more places in Lake Havasu that I need to check out but so far Lonetree seems like the best.

Craggy wash |
Craggy wash had some good things about it, it was less than 2 miles from a Walmart, it was quiet, and surrounded by mountains. I stayed there a few days and didn't have any problems but there were a couple things that bothered me. One thing is the roads are kind of beat up, there not terrible but they're probably a little rough on the tires. I think what bothers me the most is that you can't see how many people are camped in their until you get there and if it's crowded by then it's too late and you may have trouble turning around. I would stay there again if I had to but there's a better place just down the road.
