Low 90s and a light breeze made today almost, but not quite, comfortable. I'm looking forward to cooler weather but it looks like I'll have to wait till I get back to Colorado before I get any of that.

As if I wasn't having enough problems with the computer and dealing with my wayward blog, Windows did an update the other day which threw some of my critical software's out of whack, and the worst was my dictating software Dragon Speaking, that I use to write my blogs. After the update Dragon speaking no longer recognized me and pretended I had never spoken to it before.

Dictating software has to learn what your voice sounds like, and it does so by having you read a few pages of words it provides so it knows what you're saying and that way it can tell what your voice sounds like saying those expected words. That gives it a start and then the more you dictate the more it learns by the words you have to correct when it thought you said something else. So in effect the more you talk to it the more it learns.

Of course it keeps a backup of everything it's learned so if something goes wrong you can go to numerous dated backups it has saved and pick the one you want to revert back to. Which works great until a Windows update for some reason loses all the backups and Dragon speaking acts like you've never met before and is begging to be trained all over again... fun times.

It also did a few other weird things most of which I fixed fairly quickly, but the weirdest was when I opened up one of my software's and it was in Italian instead of English. That one took some head scratching to figure out because with everything written in Italian I couldn't find where to go to change the language in the software so I had to get on the Internet and pick up a little bit of Italian to find my way around in the software.

Things seem to be mostly back to normal now and I hope it stays that way. But I have a sneaking suspicion that my blog problems aren't totally over.

I love reading your blog every day. Since you made the changes my MAC laptop only gives me a black screen. I can read it on my I phone just fine. Maybe it is just my computer but it works on everything else.

As you probably know MACs have a completely different operating system than a PC so I assume its a matter of luck getting my blog to work properly on a Mac especially since I'm having trouble getting it to work reliably on a Windows operating system. But you're not the only one having trouble with my blog, PC users are having the same issue so it's not just your MAC.... I'm just glad you have a phone.

Thanks for the information, I'm glad you're sticking with me despite the problems.

Thank you Barney, I appreciate you taking the time to tell me that. I got rid of that big picture at the top of the post thinking that might be one of the problems so what you're supposed to be seeing now is a big blue box with my name in it. If you're not seeing that after you refresh I would sure appreciate it if you would let me know.

YEA BARNEY!!! You have accidentally swerved into what may end up being a solution to my problems, not all my problems of course, I'll still have plenty after this, but I think its going to help me with my blog problem.

I was remembering this morning how you told me in the past that you've got the oldest laptop known to man, instead of chips it's got vacuum tubes, your 10 MB hard drive is full, and the only thing you can do with it is play Pong.

That got me thinking that if I could duplicate the problem your computer is having with my blog it would be a lot easier for me to figure out how to fix my problem. So I dug out my oldest laptop, I never throw my laptops away I save them for the grandkids, it's at least 10 years old with all of the old antique software and doodads that computers had in the last century, there's even some horse manure stuck to the bottom of it, or at least I hope it's horse manure.

I used the handcrank to wind it up and after some sputtering and belching smoke it blinked into life. I immediately hammered the keys to get it to go to my website and after 15 minutes my website slowly appeared on the screen and GLORY BE! My blog is black at the top.

Just to be sure I checked my two modern [this century] laptops, my phone, and my blog looked normal. Soooo, I haven't solved the problem yet but now a door has been opened and I smell a solution on the other side. I will start making some changes one at a time in the antique laptop and see if I can isolate the problem.

Maybe your laptop can be saved, or like us it may be too old to be of any use anymore.

I wish I knew John, I've been trying different things to solve the problem and sometimes it gets better but it doesn't seem to last. I'm beginning to wonder if it might have something to do with my web host because it seems like it works for a while and then without me doing anything it stops working like it should.

Meanwhile, those infrared photos look so HOT. Argh.

Thank you very much Judith, input into what's going on is very useful to me right now.

I always thought infrared pictures were neat to look at, but they don't serve much purpose for me, and in less your taking pictures of very specific things like palm trees for instance the pictures look like a normal black and white photo.
