Just down the road from Rock Hound state Park is Spring Canyon state Park, and this is a picture of the mountains that Spring Canyon is in. It's a pretty place with hiking trails and picnic areas, but there's no camping. You can see the road leading into the Park, which in some places is more like a roller coaster than a road.

Back in the really old steam train days, they had to be filled up with water about every 10 miles and it was fairly common for a little town to spring up around these water stops, and the railroad would write the name of the town on the water tank that filled up the train, and I guess later on the towns continued to name their city water tank just like the railroad had. In Colorado if you know where the old train lines were you can look at topo maps and see a name about every 10 miles where a town used to be. Some of the towns survived, like Woodland Park where I used to live, and others show no sign of ever existing.
