28° and I'm wandering around in the dark

Will clicking the pics make it worth standing in the cold for hours?  No not really.

When I walked to the lake this morning the cranes were already taking off but fortunately the cranes don't all leave at the same time the way the Snow Geese do. It takes the cranes half an hour with groups of them leaving every few minutes. So there strung out from miles in the sunrise.

I got out of bed before the sun came up this morning and moseyed down to the lake to get some sunrise pictures and watch the Sandhill cranes fly away for breakfast. It was 28° by my thermometer, which made for a pretty chilly walk on a morning when the sunrise was somewhat disappointing.

After some early morning picture-taking, there's not much left to do around here until it's time for some sunset picture-taking. But that's okay; I don't need something to do every minute of the day; remember, I live a normal life, just like anyone else other than my home has wheels. So I do every day just what everybody else does every day.

There used to be a very large hay barn here at Whitewater Draw, but it apparently blew down in a windstorm, which must've been quite the scene since the barn was very big. But they cleaned it all up, so it's just an empty field now. I wonder what happened to the Barn Owl that lived in it? He was quite famous because every photographer walking by took his picture.

The more I come here, the more difficult it is to take a picture of something I haven't taken before. Yes, thousands of Sandhill Cranes are an incredible sight to see, but thousands of Sandhill Cranes pictures all look the same. Especially since mostly what they do all day is stand around doing absolutely nothing. And as much as I can relate to that, these cranes all look exactly the same, so taking another picture of another crane standing around doing nothing is not very interesting to me.

But seeing them is interesting to me; I love to see them; I just need a different way of dealing with the pictures. So this trip, I'm not just showing all cranes all the time; I'm trying to put some landscape pictures of Whitewater Draw in the blog to make taking pictures more interesting for me. And since this is my only hobby, I need to stay interested.
