Some parts of Chatfield state Park are looking very Fall like.
Like the old saying goes," a trip of 1000 miles begins with one step" and this morning I took my first step South.
I drove 3 miles south back to Chatfield state Park where I stayed when I first got to Denver. I needed to dump my holding tanks and since they charge so much to dump your tanks at the State Park you might as well just pay a few dollars more and stay for the night. Also there were high wind warnings out for this afternoon and I didn't want to be on interstate 25 while that was going on.
So I'm officially on my way south for the winter but I'm in no hurry to get there because even though it's getting chilly here it's still pretty darn hot in the South. So I will be creeping along going from Walmart to Walmart, and state Park to state Park covering as little ground as possible trying to keep the cold behind me and the hot weather just ahead.
I'm still not 100% sure where I'm going to spend the winter but I'm leaning toward southern Texas. I really would like to do some fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, and go to a restaurant that serves real Gulf shrimp instead of those tasteless farm raised things that pretend to be shrimp. I probably won't make up my mind until I reach a point where I have to turn east to Texas or west to Arizona so I guess I'll just wait and surprise myself when I get there
Fall colors on the ground.
Other parts of the State Park are just starting to show some color.
