A bad way to start the day

My morning started pretty rough! As soon as I stuck my nose out from under the covers, it seemed colder than usual; it turns out it was 30° inside the camper and about 27° outside. As I've said before, I seldom sleep with the heat on in an RV, so when I wake up and it's cold, I turn on the furnace and wait for things to warm up.

But as I came sliding down from the dizzying heights of my bedroom, on the way down, I noticed that the refrigerator was off, and that can mean a lot of things, but usually, it means... No propane. And sure enough, I had run out of propane sometime during the night, and the only solution for that was to get out in the cold, take the full tank out of my truck, take the empty tank out of the Lance, and switchum.

That's only a minor annoyance when it happens during the daytime, but at 6 a.m., in the dark, when it's below freezing inside and out, changing a propane cylinder is physically and mentally challenging.

Driven by desperation and rapidly losing the feeling in my fingers, I managed to get the cylinders changed out and my furnace going just minutes before hypothermia set in.

Most mornings in Tucson, when I wake up, it's 50-something degrees outside, But as usual, propane always runs out when you need it the most. The good news is the RV Park propane refill station is about 200 feet away from me, so getting my empty tank filled up won't be a problem, but I sure miss the Arctic Foxes dual tanks, so all I had to do was close one valve and open another on a morning like this.

A bad day for this calf Roper, she missed her calf, and her hat blew off. That's about as bad as it gets for a calf Roper.

I watched the pee-wee barrel racers this morning, and to me these kids are way too young to get on a horse. They have no more control over that horse than I do. They just sit there as the horse walks around with their head looking like a bobble head doll, sitting on a skittish 800 pound animal.... What could possibly go wrong?

Yes they look as cute as can be sitting up there on that horse, and the parents can brag that their kid started  riding when they were three years old, but one of these little kids got bucked off today. He wasn't hurt, but it sure scared everybody to death. There's just too many things that can go wrong with putting a little kid on a horse.
