Sunset at the Hunter jumper arenas

I walked up to the Hunter Jumper arenas late yesterday afternoon to get a few sunset pictures and see what was happening. Several large horse trailers were pulled in next to the barns unloading their cargo of horses and horse accessories. And there was even a couple of people on their horses walking around the arenas; I imagine just getting the horses used to it.

Yesterday the huge, fancy horse trailer was loading up horses from the barn, and I got a closer look at the truck's tag. As you can see, it came from Chihuahua, Mexico. I thought I heard a lot of folks speaking Spanish at the competition, which is not all that odd in southern Arizona, but there was a lot of folks speaking it all the time, and I guess being from Mexico would explain that.

And remember me talking about how I saw three guys in this competition? Come to find out; all three were in that group of Mexicans from Chihuahua. So this makes me wonder, are these Hunter Jumper competitions broken down into male and female competitors? Because if they are, I would imagine those three men took home all of the ribbons for all the men's events since they were the only men competing.

I also noticed something else that I thought was odd, but the Mexican connection explained it. The American female competitors either help each other get things done with their horses, or a family member is there helping them. But the Mexican group had what looked like hired hands to take care of everything, walk the horses to cool them off, clean the stalls, feed the horses, and hold the horses while the riders were doing something else. This leads me to wonder if these Hunter Jumper competitors are professionals or hobbyists. I would assume jumping horses is just a hobby for these girls, but if the Mexican group had hired help with them, was the Mexican group of riders also professionals?

I know men are competing in jumping; after all, it's one of the most common equestrian sports in the Olympics; I've just never seen them anywhere I've been until now. Well, whatever it was its over now because I watched the giant horse trailer pull away, I assume heading back to Mexico, even though another Hunter Jumper competition starts tomorrow.

If you assumed that the horse would be the most popular mode of transportation during the Hunter jumper competition, you would be mistaken.... If it doesn't have a motor and a battery nobody wants anything to do with it.
