This does not apply where you are. In humid climates like Rockport, keeping the diesel tank full helps prevent excessive condensation from forming in the tank. Diesel under the wrong conditions grows algae in the tank and /or emulsifies with the condensate. Weekend place diesel tractor users like I was for several years always topped the tank up when we left the place and added an algaecide.

I remember when I lived in Florida I would have to add some alcohol to my gas tank every once in a while to mix with the water and burn it along with the gas. South Florida was bad about water in the gas and my financial situation when I was younger usually meant that I was always running on the bottom half of the tank.
