a brilliant move ??

I've been back from the Tincup camping trip for about a week and believe it or not I'm still in the process of cleaning out my truck. This tells me three things, I take a lot of stuff with me when I go camping, I'm lazy, and I procrastinate.

But today I had to hit it hard and finish getting stuff out of the truck because at 7 o'clock tomorrow morning I'm supposed to be at Walmart getting an oil change. Now going to Walmart at 7 AM on the fourth of July holiday is either a brilliant tactical move or the stupidest thing I ever did, and I won't know which until I get there. My theory is everyone will be in the mountains celebrating and I will be the only one getting an oil change so I can be in and out of there in a flash. But there is the remote chance that the 152 Denver residents that aren't in the mountains could have the same idea and I will have to come back another day. Oh! And yes they will be open and changing oil at 7 o'clock tomorrow morning.

My families having a barbecue tomorrow so all I will have to do is walk 50 feet to the patio and claim my share of whatever's cooking on the grill without exposing myself to any dangerous traffic or noisy annoying people that will be infesting every square inch of the high country tomorrow. Sounds like the perfect Fourth of July to me.

I hope the pimply-faced kid working the oil change rack at your Walmart is better than the pimply-faced kid on the oil change rack at my Walmart. You are a braver man than I to get an oil change at Walmart...good luck.

I know, I know, and that is a bit of a concern. Which is why I used to do my own oil changes when I was younger and less lazy. But times changed, along with my body and my bank account, and now crawling under a hot vehicle without a creeper and laying on hot concrete with hot oil running down my arms doesn't give me the satisfaction it once did.

And yes there are other places that I could have the oil changed but I can get a Rotella synthetic oil change at Walmart for what a regular oil change would cost somewhere else, so I watch them through the window in the waiting room, and after they pull it out of the bay I check the oil myself to make sure it's there, and when I get home I check the drain plug and the filter to make sure there's no leaks. Other than that it's just an oil change which I was doing when I was a pimply faced kid. But you're right, and I certainly wouldn't want them to rebuild my engine.
