a cold day in southern New Mexico.

Sunsets just aren't as cool when there's no clouds in the sky.

It was really cold this morning, I had to walk about 200 yards to give the Iron Ranger an extra four bucks to stay another night and even though I was wearing my heaviest coat, I like to froze. The temperature was 34°, which isn't all that bad, but the humidity was 85% and the wind was blowing, that made it barely tolerable for me.

I can't believe I left Denver almost 2 weeks ago and I'm still in New Mexico. Normally I don't mind being in New Mexico because with my annual Park pass I can boondock for free at all the New Mexico state parks but I don't remember it ever being this cold and miserable this early in the year, I mean it's still Fall here, the leaves are mostly green.

I reckon I'll have to turn the Arctic Fox's furnace on its lowest setting tonight to keep my pipes from freezing. It's supposed to get down into the teens overnight and that's low enough to possibly cause problems with my water pipes in the basement.

Needless to say I mostly stayed inside today, it was just too cold and miserable to do anything fun outdoors. But in an increased effort to appreciate every day that I'm a full-timer, I can say I'm happy that I'm not dealing with the weather back in Denver where there was a 20° high and single-digit lows with snow on the ground. And I hope the Grandkids can have fun trick-or-treating tomorrow without getting frostbite .

If I had a dog, and the morning was as cold as it is now, that dog had better learn to use the bathroom by himself, because I'm not about to go out there.

I think these flowers are using that rock for warmth.
