Pima County Fairgrounds main campground. It's an okay place, and I've stayed here before, but I much prefer being across the street in the boondocking area.

Ordinarily, I would agree that buying more or different camera equipment does not relate to better pictures. And it was not that long ago that professional photographers were using digital cameras with two megapixels. But in your case, your camera is like having a 15-year-old computer; yes, it still works... Sorta, but the new stuff works waaaay better.

Most DSLRs are mirror-less now, and getting rid of that mirror flopping up and down every time you take a picture gets rid of many problems and vibrations. Most decent quality cameras now have IBIS, "in-body image stabilization," which keeps the cameras image sensor stable while your hand shakes. Combine that with lens stabilization, and I seldom have to use a tripod anymore.

Most modern cameras are controlled by internal chips, which can be updated with your computer to give your camera abilities that it wasn't born with. And the modern lenses that fit on those cameras, for instance, Canon has a whole new lens system now that uses a different mounting system, but yes, there's an adapter to use your old lenses, and the new lenses are so much brighter and sharper than the old ones it's unbelievable. And the ability of a modern camera to quickly focus on the subject, and hold that subject even though the camera is moving, has to be seen to be believed.

So, all in all, I would say the benefits of a modern camera are well worth the cost of stepping into the new millennia and getting a camera that may not make you a better photographer but will definitely give you more pictures that are in sharp focus to choose from.

I'm a firm believer in keeping my photography equipment to a minimum. So in many cases, I carry around a Sony pocket camera that actually fits in my shirt pocket. And some of my blog pictures are taken with my cell phone. But when I'm going out for the express purpose of taking pictures, I carry a Canon R5 with a Canon 24-240mm lens; it's relatively small and lightweight, covers most picture-taking situations, and I would say 95% of the pictures in my blog are taken with my Canon camera, and that's the lens I have on it most of the time.

I own a wide-angle lens,  and a lot of what I use it for is taking pictures inside an RV. I also own a Canon 100-400mm, which used to be my biggest lens, but when Canon came out a couple of years ago with an inexpensive 800 mm lens, I bought it for bird pictures, but I don't use it nearly as much as I thought I would because my Canon 24-240mm lens does such a good job in so many situations and that usually what I have with me.

But it's not just that the Canon 24-240mm lens is so great; what's great is the Canons full-frame 45-megapixel sensor on the camera that makes that lens so great... But that will take some explaining, so that I will finish this blog post up tomorrow.... Hopefully.
