boondocking sunset at Rock Hound state Park Deming New Mexico
Yesterday I met up with Barney, the Old Fat Man here in Deming New Mexico and we spent most of the day catching up with what's been going on since we last saw each other.
Barney was camped at the Escapees Park in Deming and I was planning on boondocking at Rock Hound state Park about 10 miles outside of Deming. But after arriving at the park and purchasing an annual New Mexico parks pass I found out the Park was almost full and didn't have space for a trailer my size. This was pretty much expected by me because I've had that problem in the past at Rock Hound but I've always been able stay in overflow when that happens so I wasn't really worried. But there's been a change of rules since I was last here and now no one can stay in overflow but I was allowed to pull over beside the road in the Park and stay there if I wanted to. Boondocking next to a road lost its appeal very quickly and didn't seem like it would be all that much fun for more than one night so I spent that one night there and went into Deming first thing the next morning and checked into the Escapees Dream Catcher Park signing up to boondock for two nights, which will give me enough time to relax and think about my next move.
