a frightening morning

I like that old vintage Avion aluminum travel trailer in the middle of the picture. It's kind of weird to think about how that trailer design used to be cutting edge technology and design. And now because it was so high-tech in its day, it looks really old and out of date. But I can relate to that... I too look old and out of date.

I woke up this morning to the sound of voices, not muffled voices like you would expect to hear from people camping, but loud voices and people that were yelling. Assuming a campground riot in progress, I slightly lifted a curtain to see what was going on. And in the darkness I could see vague shapes of people, lots of them, they were all around me, and they were all armed!!!

Realizing that I had not been in a situation this dire since my wedding day, I knew I had to do something, and it had to be quick and decisive, so I did just what I did on my wedding night, I threw myself on the ground crying and begging to be left alone !

That didn't work the day I was married, but fortunately for me, it worked this time.... The paintball guys picked me up, threw me back in the Lance, and continued their paintball games.

That's the Lance on the left, and it's surrounded by paintball people.

The paintball people were up early making breakfast. There were Grown-ups, kids, and even a couple of females.

There's a Marine Corps Air Station based in Yuma, which as you might expect is inhabited mostly by Marines. When I'm boondocking in Ajo Arizona and taking pictures of the aircraft flying over my boondocking area; those are mostly Marines from the Yuma air station practicing at the nearby bombing range.

So I've said all that just to be able to say this.... A lot of the guys I've seen walking around me with a paintball gun in their hands, have the haircut, the clean-cut look, and the demeanor of a Marine, not to mention a sticker on their windshield to get into the base. I'm proud just to be around them, and may God bless them one and all.
