It's been a quiet day today, it's kind of windy and rainy so I've spent most of the day in the Arctic Fox.
I have found that when I sit around the trailer I tend to snack a lot, I guess because I feel like I should be doing something and eating is doing something.
A rainstorm heading for Haggard's RV Park
I think if nothing else comes up I will drive over to Canon city tomorrow and see what's going on there. I haven't been to Canon city since they had a forest fire that burned part of the tourist attraction called the "Royal Gorge Bridge". From what I understand it didn't burn the bridge at all but it burned some of the buildings on both sides of the canyon. By the way if you're not from Colorado, Canon city is pronounced Canyon city. Canon a Spanish word that normally has the little wiggle thing over the "n" that makes it sound like "ya" but I can't figure out how to do that on my keyboard.
They have a maximum security prison in Canon city called Old Max and since it's been there for 100 years there's a museum there that you can go in and see a lot of prison memorabilia. I've been in it a couple of times over the years, wait a minute let me rephrase that, I have visited the museum a couple of times over the years. And it's very interesting to see some of the things the prisoners have been able to make while incarcerated. They have a whole display case full of homemade knives, that's pretty much expected. But they also had a couple of homemade guns that work.
Now just think about that for a minute. And the next time someone tells you that getting rid of guns will get rid of crime, you will understand that if a criminal can make a functioning gun while in prison, he can certainly make them in his garage or his apartment.
Another reason I would like to visit Canon city is to locate the DMV office there because that's where I will go to renew my driver's license, which expires in September, and to get my license stamped for motorcycles if I pass my motorcycle class this weekend.
