A little excitement

I told you there was something wrong with the weather in southern Arizona.

There's been some excitement since we last spoke; yesterday afternoon, a semi-truck carrying nitric acid crashed on I-10 about 2 miles from me. I got an emergency warning alert on my phone telling me the area needed to be evacuated, and the area almost included the Pima County Fairgrounds, but we just had to shelter in place.

All that happened while I was reading about the train derailment in Palestine, Ohio, and all the problems associated with a dangerous chemical spill going on now and will continue going on well into the future.

Then this morning, I woke up and saw what you see in my first picture. Now that was shocking because there was no mention of snow in the weather report, and the temperatures had just been chilly, not cold. But it had all melted in a couple of hours, and life returned to normal.

I moseyed over to the Hunter jumper arenas and took a few snapshots, but it's still pretty chilly, so I didn't stay long. This event called the "Tucson Winter classic," will continue until Sunday, so there's still plenty of time for me to get pictures.

Then starting Friday, there's something called "Vail Pride Days," and I don't know what that is. I know there's a town near Tucson named Vail, but I don't know what this event is supposed to be. But still, that's a lot of free entertainment for one week, all within a couple of hundred yards of my boondocking spot, and the main reason I don't mind paying to boondock here.

I think some of these girls carry the idea of stretch pants a little too far. It doesn't bother me, but it might scare the horses.

This horses hairdo is perfect, elegant, but  understated.

I don't know how this young lady can have such a big smile while she's competing in a contest that paralyzed Superman. I think my expression would be one of terror, and dread.

It's very common for various Hunter jumper stable's, and schools, to come to these events. And their boarders and students are the folks that compete in these Hunter Jumper competition's.

So they set up their own little areas inside and outside the stables and barns so that their riders will have a place to sit, have a snack, and relive their last event with their fellow riders.

It also gives the riders a place to hang their ribbons to show how many events they've won which brings mucho prestige to the sponsoring training schools or stables.

Can horses fly? Well, maybe for second or two.
