A peaceful Monday without all the tourists in town

Today's pics aren't very colorful, but they deserve a click nonetheless.

 On the second floor of the old Tombstone courthouse was a courtroom where many men were sentenced to be hanged by the neck until dead, and the sentence was carried out on the right side of the courthouse where the gallows stood.

Legend has it that not all men died peacefully on that gallows, some felt the judge hung them for no reason and they swore they would never rest in peace, they would return and exact revenge on the judge that sent them to their untimely death.

So sometimes on a night when the moon is full restless souls roam the courthouse looking for the judge that sent them to what is turning out to be their semi-permanent resting place on Boot Hill.

I walked around town this morning taking a few pictures; there's not much else to do here, especially after a few days; I think for most folks, a weekend is about all the Tombstone time you need.

I'll leave here on the eighth and return to the Pima County Fairgrounds for more horses and red beans and rice. There's a Hunter Jumper horse show starting on the eighth, an RV show beginning on the ninth, and something called the Jurassic quest starting on the 10th. And then there will be Hunter Jumper's contests for most days of the remainder of the month. And on the 24th of this month, they will have the three-day Quilt Fiesta, which I went to last year and enjoyed far more than I thought I would.

After that, even though there's still more horse stuff going on, I will probably be moseying on out of town, going someplace different, the choosing of which, as always, will be at the last minute and highly dependent upon the weather.

I remember a long time ago when the main street of Tombstone was paved and tourists cars lined both sides of the street, blocking the view of the old buildings. But the powers that be made the wise decision to not only turn the street back into dirt, but to block it off so no one could park in the main tourist area. Which gave me the ability to take a snapshot like this with the only vehicle on Main Street being a stagecoach.
