A positive test

Yesterday afternoon the Bat flu must've peaked because I started feeling better. It happened rather quickly; it seemed like I was feeling kind of bad one minute, and a few minutes later, I was feeling a lot better. I'm still coughing some and feeling a bit weak, but all my other symptoms seemed to have gone away, and I felt sorta close to normal. It's still a bit too early to tell, but if things keep going the way they are, maybe by later in the week, my thoughts of another mini-vacation will be back on the front burner again.

My granddaughter, who hasn't had any Bat flu symptoms other than coughing now and then, will return to school Monday morning. My son-in-law is slowly getting better, and since he's a manager who can work from home, he didn't miss any work.

Oddly enough, even though they're all living together, my daughter and grandson still haven't been affected by this. It's strange how that works.

Oh I do hope you keep feeling better and better. Miserable week you've had. But not dead yet!! Joke. Kind of lame. I had my bivalent vaccine booster yesterday, and as with all the other ones, have spent the day with fever and body aches. Evidently, I'm in the 50% that reacts that way. OK. At least it's over the next day, or has been so far....not like you day after day, but it does increase my sympathy.

Well thank you Judith, sympathy in any form is always accepted and appreciated. I hadn't been paying much attention to the bat flu lately figuring that it had weakened to the point that catching it wasn't that big a deal, and that is true, I feel like I've got a very mild case of the flu that is more of an annoyance than threatening, and I hope it stays that way because I'm not quite over it yet.

But I'm sure I'll be okay, I'm just trying to stay rested and hydrated until the bats decide to fly away and I can get back to normal.

Glad you are feeling better......

Saw this in the Portland, Or paper. Hope all this is confined to the NW but I doubt it. It seems that society is slowly disintegrating.

Yeah I believe that article is true because I've talked to several Park Rangers personally that say they've become more policeman than Park Ranger over the years. In fact when I was at the Rocky Mountain National Park a month or so ago, some of the park rangers I was dealing with dressed exactly like cops, including the bulletproof vests, and I don't take that as a good sign, but its nothing new, it's been like that since the Stoneman Meadow Riots in 1970

Just like the article says, I believe some of those problems are caused by people that are brand-new to the camping and RV world and simply don't know how to act. Some of it is also because of the crowds. Too many people, chasing too few campsites, is bound to lead to trouble sooner or later.

But whatever the cause, it just reinforces my decision to become a long-term boondocker and mostly avoid the places the "new RVing people" may be attracted to, like crowded RV parks, and State Parks near big cities. Being around people is good, but being around a whole lot of people seldom is. It puts people under stress and makes them do things they wouldn't ordinarily do. Boondocking solves most of those problems.

Wow! I'm glad we did our Oregon RVing before covid hit and changed everything. Lovely state but not so lovely campers now. Although, our only theft took place in an Oregon State Park many, many years ago.

I've spent some time in Oregon, and even more time in a similar area on the coast of Washington state. And I admit it's got its beauty at certain times of the year especially Summer. But I just can't deal with the lack of sunshine for most of the year, the incessant drizzle, and extreme humidity. And now days I think if I were headed for Washington or Oregon my solar panels would jump off the roof and walk back home leaving me powerless.

Lived and camped in Oregon for 30 years. It is a beautiful state and the camping was great. Plenty of boondocking area's and wonderful State Parks. Overtime the dark and wet winters became taxing. The politics were not of my liking but I won't let that rule my life. Family drew me to Texas and I am now find the continuous heat more taxing than the winters were in Oregon. Every place has its issues. I couldn't handle the Colorado winters either. I think the social structure of Oregon is starting to fail. They have virtually legalized ALL drugs and have pushed criminal justice reform. Most Sheriff dept. are underfunded and there is very little police protection in most area's. A sign of the times I am afraid.

Yes, you've put your finger on it Larry, in fact you've put your finger on two things that are a problem. One; there's no single place to live that's comfortable all the time. And two; everything is going to hell in a hand-basket.

I love Colorado, but there's no way I want to spend the winters here. Too cold, too much ice and snow, and I couldn't afford to pay for enough heat to keep my old bones warm all the time. So my chosen solution to that problem, after looking at a few alternatives, was to live in an RV, and go where the weather is better. I know not everyone CAN do that, and I know most people don't WANT to do that, and some people don't have the ABILITY to do that, but for an ever-increasing number of people it has become the lifestyle of choice. And I don't know any other reasonable way of avoiding winters that are too cold, and summers that are too hot, than packing up and moving twice a year.

Going to hell in a hand basket.... I know all of us old geezers see things that are happening around us and label it that way, but that doesn't mean its not true. Unfortunately things are starting to fall apart and if we don't get it stopped pretty quick there will be no going back. But I don't know if there's enough knowledgeable voters left to repair the broken road this country is traveling down.
