It's only one branch of one Aspen tree but it's a sign of things to come.
I caught a mouse in one of my traps this morning. I set out 3 traps and only caught one mouse so I'm hoping he was causing all my problems all by himself. Which is kind of hard to believe because in the middle of the night it would sound like there was a family of badgers living in the trailer. So it's hard to imagine that tiny little mouse could create such a ruckus. But I'm not taking any chances so I've got 3 more traps set tonight just in case.
It's starting to get pretty chilly here in the mornings. The last couple of mornings it's been in the low forties when I wake up which probably means that Fall is not too far off. I know that sounds like a weird thing to say in the middle of August but at this altitude fall will sometimes start in early September. Usually the leaves don't start changing very much until the middle of September but I've seen it snow here in early September.
Often after our 1st snowfall the weather will get real nice and be in the high thirties low forties at night and sixties in the daytime and it may stay that way for a couple of months... Or not. It's called Indian summer, but I'm not sure what the Indians have to do with it, maybe they cause it, or maybe we took most of the summer away from them in a Peace Treaty and this was the only part left for them to enjoy. But then again I'm not sure if they're talking about American Indians or people from India.... But whatever it is it's a very nice time of the year and a great time to get outdoors and enjoy the mountains and when it's over I'll be getting gone.
