A Super-bloom this spring?

Back in Quartzsite...but only briefly.

Today is my first full day being back in Quartzsite, but I think I won't be here very long, maybe a couple of days, and then head for Wickenburg Arizona. I enjoy watching all the team roping going on there, and I'm also looking forward to returning to the Vulture Mine and seeing what new things have been added to what was already an interesting place to visit.

I did a little reading on the Internet about the super-bloom flower situation in Arizona in the Spring, and even though nobody is predicting a super-bloom just yet, everyone agrees that with all the copious rains, temperatures, and other signs, things are pointing in that direction.

It would seem to me that after having a super-bloom last year, which I was lucky enough to witness, the flowers would have produced even more seeds than in a normal Spring, and if the weather is right, there should be even more flowers if there's a super- bloom this year.

Now, that's a guess on my part since my knowledge of super-blooms is extremely limited, and for all I know, a second super-bloom might be worse than the first one, not better. But even the remote possibility of a super-bloom keeps me running around southern Arizona, trying to find the right place to take a snapshot or two of all the flowers....if they appear.

 It will be interesting next Monday to see how watching the "End of Trail" cowboy shooting event while boondocking down the road on some school trust land instead of boondocking at Ben Avery. This will be the first time I've done that; and if it works out  it will probably be what I do in the future. It will save me a few bucks and hopefully not be too inconvenient.

One of the several fancy-schmancy hotels built adjacent to the London Bridge, and this one sort of looks like an English castle.  A lot of things here try to emulate London in the 1800s so there's no shortage of businesses here whose names start with "Ye Olde."

A small motel built just down the river from the bridge. The farther a business is away from the bridge the less money they make. In real estate its always true.....location, location, location.

It seems like every tourist town nowadays has a brewery associated with it. And its probably a pretty good business when you consider the amount of college students In Lake Havasu during spring break.

I was wondering how they got all the stones the bridge is made of all the way across the ocean and out into the middle of absolute nowhere in this desert.

But come to find out it wasn't as tough as it seems. The developer that bought the bridge, and shipped it to Havasu, actually built a completely functional concrete and steel bridge, where the London Bridge was going to be assembled and then covered the outside of the new bridge with the original London Bridge stones. And even smarter than that, before the stones left England he had one side of the stones reduced in size by six or eight inches so they weighed a lot less than the originals and took up less space on the ship. And he could do this safely because his new bridge was actually carrying the weight of the traffic, the London Bridge stones were just for looks.

This had to be done of course because the original bridge was designed to hold up horses and carriages not loaded semi trucks.
