A visit to Hudson gardens

That's my telescoping ladder leaning against the roof that I normally carry in the camper. But I didn't bring it last winter, which got me out of a lot of projects I needed to do.

Took the kids to Hudson Gardens this morning to see the flowers and the turtles, mostly the turtles. Kids care very little for flowers. We walked around the gardens for about an hour or so, enjoying the beautiful morning before making the 15-minute drive back to the house.

My son-in-law finished the swamp cooler project after he got home from work yesterday, thanks to my expert supervision and uncanny ability to notice every mistake and point them out shortly after he makes them. A supervisor's job is difficult at best.

A thunderstorm blew through the area about mid-afternoon, and we all got a severe storm message on our phones warning about baseball size hail. But the storm only brought small hail and some winds that broke a limb off one of the trees, so there was more bluster than action.

Everybody was on edge because of the large hail at a Red Rocks concert last night, just up the road from us, which sent many people to the hospital. Red Rocks is a bad place to get caught in a hailstorm, there's hardly any shelter, and folks' cars are parked a long way from the venue, so it would be almost impossible to make it to your car without getting hurt.

There's many, many acres of gardens, ponds, and creeks on the property, and its a pretty place to wander around.

Usually there is an abundance of turtles sunning themselves on the logs, but today we only saw one or two.
