Sunset, San Pedro Boondocking area, Amistad National Recreation Area Texas.

I spent the day doing a few maintenance things on the Arctic Fox. I've got a whole big list of maintenance, and do-it-yourself projects I'd like to accomplish while I'm here at the San Pedro Boondocking area. And if the weather stays just as nice as it's been for the last two days I can probably get most of it done.


I have two plugs that go from the trailer to the truck, one is the usual electrical plug that carries 12 Volt to the trailer lights and the trailer brakes. And the other carries the signal from my two video cameras mounted on the back of the Arctic Fox to the video screen on my dashboard. Both of these plugs had sand in them and were hard to plug and unplug. So I sprayed them both with brake cleaner to get as much sand out of them as possible and then put di-electric grease on the contacts, they work a lot better now.


I took apart the telescoping painters poles that hold the cell phone antenna and the Wi-Fi antenna. I wiped the sand off the sliding parts and put them back together, they work better than they did before but I think I'm going to have to wait till I get somewhere with running water and wash out the insides of the poles before they work completely normal again.


The two locks that I lock up the Yamaha WR450 with weren't working too smoothly when I took them off the bike so I sprayed both of them with brake cleaner and got some sand out of them. I knew they were pretty rusty but I didn't realize sand had gotten down inside of them.


One of the things I've been putting off doing is changing the fuel filter on the truck. I actually bought a new fuel filter for it last summer and I've been putting it off since then, can you spell pro-crasti-nation ? It's not that its that hard a job but it's messy, time-consuming, and could of been made a lot easier. But now the truck is telling me that the filter has only 1% of its life left so I've put this off as long as I dare.


Tomorrow I'm probably gonna go into Del Rio where they have a Walmart and a Home Depot among other things, and buy a few odds and ends to get more things done. I think some Naval Jelly, and some black spray paint is in my future.
