Another rodeo this weekend

While wandering around where a lot of the cutting horse trailers are parked, I spotted this beautiful Prevost.... pronounced, Pre-vo, motorhome. These motorhomes new start at almost 2 million bucks and are often the choice of politicians, the rich and famous, and apparently cutting horse owners.

I had to take this picture with a telephoto lens since I'm not allowed anywhere near an RV of this quality. Although I could live quite comfortably in its cavernous basement storage area.

I didn't do much of anything today. The cutting horse competition is still going on but I've seen about all I need to see of that, so I decided to just relax today. There's supposed to be a rodeo this weekend so I need to rest and relax so I'll be able to stand for extended periods without undue fatigue both Saturday and Sunday.

After this weekends rodeo I think the only event left in January is the biggest horse event that they have here which is a three day youth barrel racing competition, which will have over 400 contestants, and that is a lot of horse trailers.

After that it will be bug out time for me when I head for greener pastures and hopefully skies filled with Sandhill Cranes.

As I was walking around the Fairgrounds this morning I spotted this truck prepping the rodeo arena, it's important that they keep the arenas dirt floors mixture of cow pee and horse pee properly balanced for the bull riders since they end up eating more of it than most folks.

This preparation effort bodes well for their actually being a rodeo this weekend.

Since I don't have any more pictures of what cutting horse people call "action"  that only leaves me with a few pictures that I call "portraits."

You might think those earrings would spook the horses.

Even though I've criticized cutting horse competition as a boring spectator event, that is in no way a criticism of the people that participate.

My experience with the people at the cutting horse event has like every other event I go to, been full of some great  people. The horses as trained athletes are phenomenal, and the people there have been some of the friendliest I've ever met.

Not every contestant in the cutting horse event is old and geezerly like me, there's a few young folks, but it just doesn't seem like the kind of sport that would attract young people.

I think young people prefer a horse sport that's challenging, high activity, and with a hint of danger. But cutting horse is more appealing to folks like this where you spend more time sitting on your horses than actually riding them.
