That is the same thoughts I get when it gets close to return to Alabama time. Must be an RVer thing.

My comment box on the blog is an abomination. From the very beginning I've never been able to figure a way to control it to make it work better, which is doubly annoying for me because I have to use it to answer comments. The only way I'm able to make it work at all is I write everything on notepad, or any other text editor, and then copy-paste it into the comment box, and it better be right the first time because once it's in the comment box I can barely read it at all.

I have no interest in changing my lifestyle. Summer (hot) time in grandkid land elsewhere (warmer) is still my complete preference. I am still tr;ying to figure out what area next fall for me. I really do not want to go back to the Corpus area again for a whole winter. My hope is the oil field workers give me some room westerly next winter. My current plan is to replace my one battery with two AGM batteries in August to give me all the options available.

If you're planning on two batteries because you would like to boondock more that's great because I think boondocking is good for folks. If you don't want to incur the expense of more batteries and maybe even another solar panel or two, you might consider a little thousand watt Honda generator, their quiet enough that they don't even bother me when I'm around them, and that's saying something. There light enough to carry around, and for a man of your means the price is inconsequential.

This interim time is the first time since the Castle was built it has less than two 100 AH batteries or more. I have never run close to not having plenty of power until that fiasco at San Pedro when the inverter failed and drained everything to nothing. I put this single battery in since I knew I would be on hookups until at least the end of August and wanted time to study about the lithium batteries. To my surprise this single 75 AH lead acid has been plenty for a single night with a little charge to spare. It definitely requires a good charge every day to fill up again. But my 350 watts of solar does that easily. I disconnected from the 120 for a week in Rcockport and dry camped and it was plenty of battery for good weather camping. It is definitely not enough for long term boondocking because a bad cloudy day could leave you wanting better battery setup before the second day was going good. I am still evaluating the lithium vs agm batts for my uses. The longest I have a record of boondocking is about 45 days in a row at San Pedro before I met you.

It's definitely the bad weather that requires I have as many batteries and solar panels as I do. Living on sunshine I've found out that not only do the desert areas have fewer cloudy days, but when they are cloudy the clouds are thin and I still get pretty good charging. Whereas when I was in Texas a cloudy day meant little or no charging, and I'm assuming it's because the clouds were thicker.
