This is my favorite sign at the Fairgrounds, and I like it because it's Art Deco. And Art Deco anything reminds me of Miami Beach when Miami Beach was a cool place to be and not the fake.... "Look at me I'm so rich and famous" place it is today.

Well it won't be long until this month is over and I think it will be interesting to see what happens on May 1. That seems like the date when some areas of the country have said they're going to start opening up a little bit, some areas are going to look into it, and a few others are going to throw the door wide open and try to get back to normal, so if nothing else it will definitely be interesting.

Since I've been paying some attention to the foreign news now days, since this pandemic affects the whole world and whether we like it or not what happens in the rest of the world affects us. it appears that some European countries and especially England are getting very tired of their lockdowns just like Americans are and are starting to complain to their respective governments just like we are. It appears that people are willing to put up with being without a job until the bills start piling up and then the fear of catching the Bat flu is outweighed by the fear of losing their homes and their family having to live on the streets.

I don't think we'll have problems like some countries are starting to have, but that depends on how well our government can handle the nation's food supply. People can, and will, put up with a lot and remain civil but when food gets hard to find that's when society starts breaking down.

The government knows this and that's why they're doing everything possible to make sure grocery stores remain open no matter what the cost, truckers keep bringing the food to the stores, and the wholesalers and distributors have food to sell. Because if any part of that chain breaks life will go from the way it is now to martial law in a matter of days.

That's an unknown concept to this generation but you only have to go back as far as World War II to see food being rationed in America when the war disrupted our normal food supply. My parents had to deal with that, but they were used to hardship since they lived during the great depression when food, and the money to buy it was hard to come by.

Well that was so depressing I depressed myself. I didn't do that on purpose, like I've said in the past I just write whatever I'm thinking about at the moment and it looks like I took the dark and dismal path today..... I think I'll go polish my bullets.

It doesn't look as hot here in black-and-white as it does in color.

Another day of about 100° and this is supposed to continue until Thursday when it's forecast to get up to 105° and then start coming back down to the mid-90s again.

For those of you living in the South, and you know who you are, desert temperatures are not like the temperatures in normal hot areas. My experiences living and being raised in places like South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and South Florida is when the high temperature is forecast to be, let's say 95°, it's going to be somewhere near that temperature for a lot of the day and unfortunately part of the night.

But in the desert it doesn't work that way. It will only be 95 between 4 PM and 6 PM, most of the day will be in the low 80s and night time will be 60s so with humidity in the single digits or teens, living without air conditioning your only uncomfortable for a few hours.

Of course for most folks even a few hours is too much, and as I get older things like that are not as easy for me to deal with as it used to be, but then again nothing else is either. I look back now on living in Miami Florida with its oppressive heat and humidity and wonder how in the world I managed to live and work in a place like that? And of course the answer is.... I was younger.... I was used to it.... And for one reason or another, [too poor to leave] I didn't have a choice.

A ticket booth waiting patiently for thousands of visitors to pour into the County fair..... And It looks like it might be waiting for a long time.

I'm not sure what these trailers are doing here, and I don't think this Is a storage area.

As I walked by these rather large horse barns at the Fairgrounds I felt something that I haven't felt for a while.... No not that, not that either... It was cool air.

 Since they're all empty I walked inside and lo and behold these giant empty barns are air-conditioned! And as you can see there's not even any doors on the buildings. All that wonderful air-conditioning is just pouring outside which is why I could feel it 50 feet away where I was walking. I'm sure they've got a good reason for air conditioning empty horse barns but I'm not about to ask so here's some perfectly logical reasons I've come up with on my own......


The barns aren't actually air-conditioned. Global warming which morphed into global climate change has now mutated into global cooling and for some mysterious reason climatologist don't fully understand this disastrous weather phenomenon is beginning right here in these horse barns.

They forgot to turn off the air conditioner at the end of last summer.

The stalls are actually full of miniature horses so small I couldn't see them.

The Fairgrounds has more money than they know what to do with.

There getting ready for a horse show next weekend that could only be held if the horses wear face masks and have gloves on their hooves.

The Arctic Fox is so hot inside that anyplace else feels cool by comparison.

And last but not least. I've got the Bat flu and my fever is so high I'm delusional.

Sunset Pima County Fairgrounds boondocking area.

I re-uped yesterday for another week of boondocking here at the Pima County Fairgrounds so at least I know where I'll be until the first of May. I still hold faint hope that the New Mexico state parks will open up the first of May so I can start moseying back towards Colorado.

There's no real reason the New Mexico state parks should stay closed, the whole state only has about 2 million people in it and 1/4 of them live in Albuquerque so there's plenty of open space for folks to spread out. They haven't been hit very hard by the Bat flu. They've had 80 something deaths most of which came from just two areas of the state, the Albuquerque area, and the Navajo Nation. So I'm hoping the governor will come to her senses and at least open up the state parks.

I've apparently leveled off in my weight loss at about 16 pounds, I haven't lost any more weight, but I haven't gained anymore either. I didn't have to get on the scale to know this because I can easily tell I'm eating more than I was before. And that apparently coincides with me not worrying as much as I used to. So if I start putting on weight I'll have to find something to worry about.

I guess if I really needed to I could worry about doing my laundry because it's been a while. I've been putting it off since hanging around a laundry room even for a brief period of time sounds like the second easiest way of catching the Bat flu, the first easiest way would be getting a job as a Bat taster at the Wuhan China wet market.

I'm not completely out of clean clothes, I've got one sock I haven't worn yet, and some clean pajama bottoms that I'm saving for when I have to go to Walmart. Fortunately the government now recognizes sunshine as a way to sterilize things so I've put all my dirty underwear outside to be cleaned by the sun. I don't know if they're getting any cleaner but they are keeping anybody from moving into the boondocking area with me.

My biggest problems is I've run out of clean blue jeans, I thought I had plenty of jeans but over time I somehow either outgrew some of them or they got mixed in with some 10-year-old kids jeans and I ended up with blue jeans that I can't even come close to buttoning up. So I've been having to wear the same pair of jeans for so long that there's mounting evidence that my jeans are running around the living room at night while I'm asleep and eating my popcorn.
