The last night before the thundering herd arrived at the National Forest campground
By 6 o'clock last night the campground looked full. The only sites I saw empty were the reserved sites and they didn't have to be here till Saturday.
So here it is Saturday about lunchtime and the place is packed. I'm glad that I've had a chance to stay here on the weekdays because if the weekends were normal for this place I would never stay here. This national forest campground is convenient for me to take care of the things I need to do in Woodland Park. And if it weren't for that I would be somewhere else. I am kind of lucky that I picked a little meadow to stay in. I didn't want to be under the trees because I needed the sunshine for my solar panels. but most people want to be in the woods and their packed together tighter than I am out here in the meadow.
It is beyond me why people want to spend a weekend in a camping situation that is not much different from the city they left to come up here. There's a bunch of people wandering around, it's noisy, there's cars driving by every few minutes, music is playing from 3 different directions, there are generators running in stereo, and I've heard car alarms go off twice, so I don't see much difference in this and being in Colorado Springs.
Now bear in mind this place is not their only choice there are literally millions of acres of Pike national forest that you can camp in for free, just like I did the night before I got here. But for some reason these folks want to bunch together just like the way they live in the city.... And maybe that's the answer, their city folks and their more comfortable with other city folks all around them. There's nothing wrong with that of course, I just don't agree with that philosophy.
My little meadow is not too bad, but the woods are packed with people
Despite all of that I've had a productive day working on the Yamaha. I've been putting off installing the black rear fender because I knew it was going to take some fabrication to make it fit but I finally started on it this morning and have it about 90% done. tomorrow I have to go into town to the hardware store and buy some metric bolts and hopefully I'll be able to finish the project by the afternoon.
