As much as I don't like travel plans, I now have one

Testing the new birthday present trampoline before the safety nets are up.

My grandson got a trampoline for his birthday. He already had a very small trampoline only big enough for a couple of kids to be bouncing on, but this one is a regular size trampoline that he can grow into. The small one as been used so much that it's torn-up, and it's actually not very safe to use at the moment.

I will be helping with the assembly of the full-size trampoline. I'm perfectly happy lending a hand in a supervisory position, since the supervisory position is second only to the sitting position in my list of favorite positions.

Cruising around the Internet the other day I accidentally bumped into something that looks really cool, its called the "Red Rock Balloon Rally," and this year it takes place on December first through the third in Gallup New Mexico. It's advertised as the second largest balloon rally in the United States and it sounded like something that even "I" could get a nice picture of.

The big selling point for me is it's being held in a county park a few miles from town, that among other things, is a campground, and the balloons are launched every day during the rally, from next to the campground.

I've always wanted to attend the gigantic Albuquerque balloon rally, but a long time ago it got so over crowded, and  difficult to deal with, that I gave up even trying to get tickets. The crowds are so big it just didn't seem like fun to me. But this Red Rock Rally seemed big enough to be interesting, but not so big as to be mistaken for a rock concert.

So even though Gallup New Mexico is not my favorite town by a long shot I figured I would give it a chance and see if I could have some fun taking pictures there so I signed up for a camping spot for those three nights. There's no cost to see the rally, only $20 a night for a water and electric hookup campsite.

I got these next three pictures off the Internet, since I've never been here before. It was mostly this picture that made me want to camp at this balloon rally. As you can see the campground is in the upper right-hand corner of the picture, and the balloon launch sites are right there next to the campground, so I don't have to go anyplace to get pictures, they will be right there in my yard.

This is another picture that made me want to be there. I can climb up the hills and get pictures of the balloons going by.... I'm guessing there might even be a sunset picture or two worth taking at this location.

As you can see the picture taking opportunities are almost endless at this balloon rally.... I can't wait!
